What's your criteria for making it? - Number of games played? Standard/Ability?
i waqs thinking anyone who has not become at least  a good consistent player and obviously weaknesses. hence i place vickery in this thread. i dont think he can improve and i think he will be cut or traded when his current contract runs out.

Criteria for me is whether they'll play at least 50 games:

Helbig - worst since JON

Elton - just not a footballer

O'Hanlon - skilled but slow, dumb & lazy

Griffiths - might make it but not at Richmond.

Williams - has something but ultimately nope

Mcintosh - nope, ordinary

Darrou - should make it but won't get the chance at Richmond and will be delisted because of the rookie rules.

Arnot - see Darrou - clearly on the outer with Hardwick.

Dea -  he might sneak over the line but I don't see the appeal.

Gordon - might get close but yeah nah...

Lloyd - 50/50 to play 50.

Not trying to be a smartarse mate but do you watch the magoos every week ? If you do then I'll respect that post. If not , then you're just throwing darts.

More than most - have seen a lot of these blokes since they've been here and am also a critic of people who judge the reserves but only ever see them when they're on tv if at all. *cough*claw*cough*

Helbig and Elton been called out on this thread. That maybe right but we'll never know how they'd go at the highest level coz Dimnuts won't ever give them a look in. Even when we're 3 and 10 and the season is shot. And yes , forget the crap , the season was shot at that point We aint making finals.  Our resurgence for me just means that hard list decisions that needed to be made now won't be.

I actually agree, they should all be given a shot before the final calls, the problem is, apart from Hardwick's pigheadedness,  idiotic list management and stupid contract extensions have compromised us....yet again.
you have no idea on what and who i see. i will stand by my record.
one other thing when players have such glaring weaknesses you dont need to see em too often.

I think draft position comes into it too.
Someone like Tambling played 108 games for this club but did he really make it? Especially considering he was a number  4 pick in a very good draft.
It's a really hard one to narrow down on if someone made it on games alone.

Differently levels of made it.

I'd argue we are less likely of winning the flag with him in the team than in it

Could be wrong of course

Grigg

I rate Vickery

I agree Grigg is not great and if we won the flag with him in our 22 he would be player 20 to 22.  He doesnt like body contact enough for my liking. He just is what he is. We have worse in shedwards.

Fyi he got 36 possies 26 contested 19 clearances in the twos the other week against sandy.  Maybe he is gettung back into form.

I watched the first half of richmond vs port Melbourne

Before richmond got blown away in th secound half, I thought Grigg was very poor when the game was still on the line.

What concerns me most about Grigg Newman king etc. is the stunting of growth of possible potential ok players; Lennon donuts arnot etc
so very poor players are stunting the growth of kids. the simple truth is the kids in the main have rarely done enough to warrant a senior game and perform way below the level of those very poor mature players.
but hey lets not criticise the kids eh thats just not the done thing. if they were any good they would be tearing the vfl apart and demanding a game on a regular basis.
the TRUTH YES THE TRUTH IS They have not done this. in fact when your griffiths helbigs arnots etc have actually been gifted a game they have failed abysmally.

cmon be honest here. the complaint with most has not been kids have knocked the door down and not been given a go. nope most are complaining that seniors are performing badly and we should try something different regardless.

each week i look at our vfl side and think to myself how the hell can we win games or even compete with so few mids and such poor structuire.
mate we are in dire straights we will go backwards because the talent is just not within the list. no i will rephrase theres not enough talent within the list.

anyway i digress from the thread. i think from here on in i wont start any threads you lot arent mature enough to participate in em.
i think from here on in short and to the point along the lines of say vickery on the vickery thread, DUD DELIST.

I SAID THIS ON ANOTHER THREAD. YOU LOT FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL AT ANY SORT OF SUGGESTION OF THE BAR BEING RAISED IN ANY WAY. YOU ALL SAY WE NEED TO AIM HIGHER BUT AS SOON AS A FAVORITE OR PEOPLE AT THE CLUB ARE CRITICISED UP GO THE BARRIERS.

OUR LISYT IS POOR OUR KIDS ARE BATTLING AND FAR TOO MUCH IS LEFT TO FAR TOO FEW. I REALLY DONT ALL THIS HEAD IN THE SAND CRAP.PEOPLE DEFEND THE INDEFENSIBLE AT RICHMOND AND IT REALLY DOES SHOW RIGHT ACROSS THE BOARD.

Didn't think I was sitting on the fence.  ;D

Reckon he won't make with us but think he can at another club that has a good development program. Eg Geelong, Hawthorn or Sydney or even the Bulldogs.  ;)

Well good on you for having such an extraordinary eye for footballers and I sincerely hope you apply for a recruiting position at the club given this apparent gift for talent identification and lord knows we could use someone with your skills, but unless you fly over from Perth every week, I think I have a fair idea of how much you see. Coupled with the fact you've said many times yourself you don't watch many games at either level these days.

no i havent even thought of it. but i could ask my gran who hasnt watched a game in decades  but can still spot a talented player better  than our club and most of our supporters.

i have no need to enlighten you or anybody else about who ive seen and when.  i have always been up front when commenting on players and said when  i have seen little of em or not at all live. which granted lately is not much at all. but hey hacks hit you in the face you dont ever need to see much of em.

only lennon is a newbie, and lloyd is the other all others have been in in the afl  system for how long. do i really need to see em week in week out their weaknesses are clear to all.

as i said i reckon ive done pretty darn well with limited opportunity to watch players. id hate to see what i could do if i was ddoing it week in week out.

.as i have always said i will back myself in against the club every day of the week.reckon im   so far in front of anything the clubs so called recruiters have produced its not funny and i dont claim to be an expert. now that is sad.  but hey to better fj aint hard his record is that poor.

and while im defending myself when  i really should tell you to stuff the f off, over the yrs  thru business family and holidays i get to melbourne a minimum 5  6 times a yr  throw in perth games and i have seen plenty of our players most yrs, and yes ive even been to the odd vfl game most yrs. .  this yr is different and i have said as much, at times  i cant bring myself to watch the rabble.
when things align i used to go  watch juniors champs etc with my cousin in melb. .so i  used to see not much but more than you would ever realise. i dont see a lot of kids nowadays.  i used td go most weeks but the interest has waned.

for a bloke who sees our players on limited occasions, yes i only see em on limited occasions each yr omg hang me up. ,  i reckon i do just fine.  but hey anyone who doesnt watch em every week has no idea lol. as i said some things just smack you in the face. it aint hard to see when any player lacks basics. unfortunately far too many of ours do.

its funny with the supporters it remains every body elses fault bar the players  especially with the youngsters. the excuses never cease.

oh before i go you can be rest assured i will comment on wa kids in this yrs draft.
i dont qualify as an expert but i have at least seen 6 wafl games this yr  ive seen champs games and ive been to a few school games where ive been interested in a few players. no where near enough for you  obviously  but far more than most id say. not ideal but hey i like to participate in thes things.

id bet ya i do better with this small pool of players tham fj does with the entire pool. and that is seeing them on a limited basis. there are some pretty simple criteria and if players dont meet em they  get flicked pretty quick. shame our supporters and club dont use  good criteria to jusge players by.

anyway it  will be all moot come seasons end. unless they can get simple basic things right which they wont, the cracks have already been papered over for another yr.im out gonski glad to be rid of the weight around the neck. so yopu wont have to worry mate about people criticising your precious kids. you know those kids with basic deficiencies tht you refuse to acknowledge, the ones that will in all likelyhood be delisted over the next few seasons. no wait they wont be delisted we will hang on and on and on till they get 7 yrs up and long term leave.

anyway i apologise now.  i really am over our nuff nuff supporters with blinkers and excuses. our nuff nuff club that cant see a thing theru when things get tough,  and the nuff nuff game that we have the hide nowdays to call aussie rules footy.
