Would you rather 9th or draft selctions?
« on: August 17, 2014, 09:29:01 PM »
We can make the finals and I'm hoping we do the unthinkable and get there and cause some real problems after we make it.

But what happens if this late season surge comes to nothing and we finish 9th? Would it have better if we had just finished down the bottom of the ladder and guarantee ourselves great draft selections?
Has this run of wins helped us for next year? Is it the beginning of something bigger or just another false dawn at Tigerland? :huh

The surge has been good for us whether or not we make finals or 9th IMO. Mainly comes down to what the coaches/list managers make of it. If they have another draft of only 1 kid it'll be a failure but if they still go into the draft and get a good amount of kids it'll be good for the ones on the list to win

It's saved and developed a few careers in the past 3-4 weeks I reckon

It's probably ended a couple too.
Newman is struggling and it's now obvious there is no room in our best side for Angus Hamspud.

The difference between getting pick 6 and pick 10 isn't that dramatic. Richmond's problem isn't it's first round picks, it's the 2nd and 3rd round picks that we need to get right, by then, slipping behind a couple of picks doesn't matter as much.

x4.  The draft is a lottery, pick 6 or 10 can even be the same player.

me i prefer we particpate heavily in the nd with as many early picks as we can get.

if we had a bunch of real good kids to play id say play the kids and if we lose we lose . unfortunately i dont think we have that many decent good kids waiting in the wings.

we had an opportunity to rest players. send players off for ops, play kids try different set ups etc and do some real hard yards. we chose not to. it can only mean one thing they still think they have a great list.
well we will see wont we.  cant wait to see how it pans out next yr.

I actually don't think the second half of this year matters because they were never going to have the guts to sack Hardwick this year anyway.

So either the second half of the year is sustainable and we are on the way or Hardwick will be sacked next year and we start again.

We'll know by half way through the year
