I changed my 9 grandkids memberships this year from the normal Cubs memberships to A & M kids memberships for 2 reasons - a) it was getting expensive with so many memberships when most of them never see a game live and the A & M are a bit cheaper, and b) I identified strongly with the charity so felt my money in my grandkids names was going to something worthwhile.  So I would say that while it might put some off to be donating a membership to a charity that they don't necessarily relate to, it might also attract some.  Swings and roundabouts and at the end of the day we all have a choice about how/where we spend our hard-earned.

good if we could beat them but no shame if we can't.

as someone said earlier....we still have about 10000 members from last year who havent' renewed yet.
some simply prefer to wait till the season proper to sign up...
