Is it bad that when other staff asked me what the fans thought of this I immediately thought of the negative reaction on this thread?
Social media is 90% positive, here's the other way around.

This place is 'Negative Central' RFC_Official. You will not get a positive reaction to anything regarding the club here at the moment. The most vocal posters now are those that want to sack the coach, get rid of players, blame the recruiters and 'death-ride' any success we have.

It's sad really but if you want proof just read through a few of the threads  :help

I'm finding it harder and harder to join in any conversation because everyone just thinks I'm overly loyal and optimistic. Even if we win posters would rather discuss the early season losses.

Have you got any ideas how to address this RFC_Official other than just go to another board? Even the site moderator is one of the vocal critical posters  :o  :shh

Really????? :huh

I'm not having a go at you RFC_official...but why does a team like Geelong get rid of a champion like Paul Chapman and Richmond seem to hang on to good ordinary players like Newman .
You'd have to ask them I guess. Chappy/Pods seem to be going ok this year at their new clubs.

Perhaps its time, like the club is working towards, we aim to change the culture of this forum.  :thumbsup

Punt road end isn't bubbling over with excitement either.
However, I actually agree with keeping him on the list, we need to keep some old heads.

I guess if Newy is happy to play VFL and teach the youngsters there it will work out.  Guys like Chapman left because they were told they would not play the quota of senior games they were expecting. It also depends on the coin he has been happy to accept. So there are many things that we are not privy to with this re-signing.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Seeing there are only 2 moderators on this forum I will assume Stripes that last bit in bold is directed at me?

Yes I have been critical of the club this year, really first time I've extremely critical in a very long time and TBH I make no apologies for it. Club shouldn't be immune for criticism.

Personally, as I have said this club has gutted me in a way that I've never experienced before. Yes the wins have been fantastic but it doesn't and shouldn't hide what happened in the first half of the year. Sorry but I couldn't ignore it this time. This time it was different.

Even the President said the same thing over the weekend and I for one was absolutely rapted to hear (read) it. It was the best thing I've heard come out of the club all season. Helped me make up my mind about what I am doing re memberships for 2015.

BTW I reckon I've articulated my feelings pretty clearly, haven't just gone on about sacking coaches, axing players. Have wherever possible given reasons why. FWIW I haven't hidden behind my keyboard and have actually passed on my views to folks at the club

As for the Newman extension it's interesting was speaking to friends earlier about it and they don't do social media in any form and they said how surprised and disappointed they were with the extension. They reckoned that Newman shouldn't be going on.

Well this should liven the forum up... :lol :lol

Sad that some people only get excitement when things go poorly at the club or they make mistakes. You'd think an 8 game winning streak would liven the forum up plenty

That interesting Stig. Yes there's been positive comments on twitter (I'm not on FB). But some Tiger folks that I follow on twitter and more importantly have the utmost respect for said they didn't agree with it, wished Newy all the best but thought he shouldn't be going on.

that won't happen, my friend, until the club culture changes.

And WAT.

Reality is, if the lose to Sydney on Saturday, that 8 game streak will again be too little, too late = 9TH

It's pretty shallow & simplistic to conclude that those of us who criticise the club or exercise gallows humour somehow "enjoy" it's failure. Most of us have enjoyed the wins but just prefer to save true excitement to winning streaks of real substance that lead to and include finals and are actually backed up the following year for once. At the stage this current streak has yet to achieve that and is nothing greatly different to what's been seen before in previous false dawns and back halves of years we started poorly.

Dullards invariably arrive at the simplistic conclusion that those of us who criticise the club "enjoy" it's failure. Some of us prefer to save our excitement to winning streaks of real substance that lead to and include finals and are backed up the following year. At this stage this current streak has yet to achieve that and is nothing greatly different to what's been seen before in previous false dawns.

Do you disagree that since we've been winning there has been less activity on the forum? Nothing wrong with criticism but it shouldn't be constant negative comments on players, coaches and the club that gives this forum life which sadly it is and we suddenly start winning it dies down. If it's so important to save your excitement (I once again ask what is the point of following football if you don't allow yourself to get excited) then shouldn't you also save your criticism as well? What makes it okay to bang on about the losses well after they are done and dusted but not even get up and about over a good winning streak?
P.S How many times did you edit this post?

As long as a culture of positivity is implemented at the club and here. Thats the main thing right?

That way missing finals/finishing 9th/10th/losing nearly always becomes positive. Right?

If theres one thing that needs changing mate its a few finals victories and a premiership for once in a god damn lifetime.

Forget the fans reaction to PR your missing the point.
