Hardly giving, it was $150 a ticket, more like $100 on the usual services.

With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are crying...

Tiger Army en route to Adelaide for Richmond’s elimination final

Herald-Sun
September 06, 2014

UPDATE: RICHMOND fans have crossed enemy lines, entering South Australia as they march towards Adelaide and their finals destiny.

A convoy of five buses packed with Tigers faithful has arrived in Bordertown, winding back their watches to local time and building in excitement ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Port Adelaide.

Victory against the Power will earn Richmond a semi-final berth but defeat will end a fairytale season that has seen the Tigers fight back from 16th spot to resurrect their premiership dream.

Richmond fans have lined the roadside in tiny towns between Melbourne and the state border, waving Tigers flags and beeping car horns at the sight of the “Tiger Army Express” convoy.

A charter flight full of fans and Richmond chief Brendan Gale has also left Melbourne bound for Adelaide as well as thousands more Tigers fans travelling by car and train.

The convoy pulled out of the CBD at 8am.

More than 7000 Richmond fans are expected to cross state borders for the trip, taking to planes, trains and automobiles to cheer on the Tigers in their second straight finals series.

Decked head to toe in yellow and black, Tigers fans boarding the convoy outside Etihad Stadium this morning climbed aboard coaches stamped with the slogan “Tiger Army Express” and the social media tags #daretodream and #GoTiges.

Tiger Army marches into Bordertown

Fans young and old, male and female, and from all corners of the state, are making the 10-hour bus trip today.

The Herald Sun is in onboard bus No.1 - the “Cotchin express” for the journey.

All five buses on the convoy have been named after Richmond heroes - Riewoldt, Martin, Newman and Deledio, as well as Cotchin.

The swinging Tigers’ theme song had been played three times aboard the “Cotchin Express’’ before the bus had even hit Footscray Rd this morning.

There is a fair chance it might get a few more rotations before the day is over.

TEN TIPS FOR VICTORIANS TRAVELLING TO ADELAIDE

1: Beware lurking sharks at otherwise pleasant city beaches;

2: Don’t be offended by the “Malls Balls” sculpture in Rundle Mall

3: Pie floaters. Meat pies and pea soup are meant to be separated;

4: The state’s favourite drink is flavoured milk (Farmer’s Union iced coffee);

5: A South Australian schooner of beer is just 285ml, compared with 425ml in Victoria. Order a pint, which in SA is actually the same size as a schooner;

6: Mullets are still in fashion in South Australia;

7: Watch out for serial killers;

8: Good luck finding shops open on Sundays;

9: They’re still wounded about losing the Australian Grand Prix to Melbourne, nearly 20 years later;

10: They honestly think Adelaide Oval rivals the mighty MCG. Seriously.

It was only the usual light 30 minute blow out the cobwebs training session we always have the day before a game. The most exhaustive thing the boys would've done would've been signing a stack of autographs after training lol. We played at Adelaide Oval only 3 weeks ago so the boys would be fairly familiar with it already.
