Richmond confident it will keep Trent CotchinJay Clark

October 03, 2014 RICHMOND head of football Dan Richardson is confident captain Trent Cotchin will turn down the riches of free agency and re-sign at the club beyond next season.
Cotchin and superstar Crow Patrick Dangerfield headline a bumper 2015 free agency crop that will be heavily targeted by cashed-up rivals such as Collingwood next year.
The Herald Sun reported in June that Hawthorn had made an inquiry to Cotchin’s management, Elite Sports Properties, about the superstar midfielder’s contract status.
Richardson said he would understand if rivals came hard for Cotchin, 24, but was content the Richmond skipper and three-time club best and fairest would stay beyond 2015.
“Most players play to have success, and a club like Hawthorn naturally enough — as other clubs would have — would have interest in ‘Cotch’,” Richardson said on AFL Trade Radio.
“But by the same token we are really comfortable that he’s happy here.
“We feel we have a culture or are developing a culture and environment that ensures that players want to stay here.
“We haven’t received any indication from any of our players including Trent that they are interested in playing anywhere else but here and hopefully be part of the success we hope to have.”
