I've got it from good sources that he made it known to clubs he wanted to go the the bummers to be with his mate Thompson.
Most clubs will grant players of his ilk what they wish. After all they can just say they'd retire if someone else drafted them. They are so close to the end of their career they wouldn't care.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Pretty important piece of the puzzle likka , has legs like steel springs and knows how to kick a goal just quietly. Will warm a spot on the wing whilst we patiently nurse Fjs next batch of stars in our veritable warehouse of talent .....shrewd move by the Tigers , I like it, ,,,,,,,,a lot  :shh
But will FJ get his man  :shh

This bloke said his spine was so stuffed he has to lie on his back on the floor to get his socks on in the morning.

Will be hanging with Knights in the rehab group probably.

Winderlich has his final shot and it was a blank ... move on Richmond and draft a young fella to quench the Matt White thirst & satisfy the urge for speed.

Lollies

Well I heard he just doesn't like James Hird and was only going to play on if he was sacked.

Sounds about right.

Dunno how that chump is still there. All these BS board meetings where he's supposed to get the sack he must be the luckiest bloke ever.

Its ironic that Wunderlick would offer more in 1 VFL match that Buttfield did in 2 seasons.

Massive pass on Bummer duds as he is no Paul Sproule.

winderlich would give us a good forward option for 2 years but he isn't worth anything in terms of trade. he would be in our best 22 and would play most games in a season.

but if Richmond does this then they must get

5 or 6 genuine kids in the draft, you cant go around picking up 29 year olds and not bring in a number of kids in the draft and by that I mean 18-20 year olds at the most.

hardwick looks to be trading to maintain a position in the eight, and can any one blame him, if we make finals next year it will mean he has led the club to 3 finals series in a row and that gentlemen will mean that he will get another extension.
Precisely. I presume he will play forward, so we need to draft his replacement. The issue will be if we don't do this then wtf are we going to do when this bloke hangs up the boots?

Richmond wants 'retired' Bomber Jason Winderlich for free

RICHMOND has confirmed it is interested in securing Essendon speedster Jason Winderlich if a deal can be struck to acquire him as a free agent during the trade period.

The Tigers could also secure Winderlich in a trade but AFL.com.au understands the club favours gaining him via free agency.

Winderlich was on the list of free agents at the start of the season but had a trigger clause in his contract that was met during the year, placing him in a similar position contractually in relation to free agency status as St Kilda's Nick Dal Santo in 2013.

Dal Santo eventually joined North Melbourne as a free agent in 2013 after the Saints realised they could secure pick No.26 as compensation.

Winderlich unexpectedly announced in early August he was retiring from Essendon after just 128 games in 12 seasons at the Bombers.

The talented 29-year-old had a wretched run with injuries, including a knee reconstruction in 2011, but appeared to be in the best form in his career in 2014.

He looked to have had a change of heart however late in the season and was recommencing discussions to continue in 2015 with Essendon.

His manager Marty Pask told NAB AFL Trade Radio last week that Winderlich was unlikely to play for a club other than Essendon despite reports to the contrary.

"As it stands at the moment, he has retired," Pask said.

"He is in the stages of assessing what his future looks like. We're having those discussions with Essendon. There's nothing else to suggest he'll be playing anywhere else."

The Tigers have been looking to bolster their midfield depth and missed the pace and run of Matt White in 2014 after he joined Port Adelaide as a free agent during last year's trade period.
