no, but surely it must be a concern if his issue was communication with the players?
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Gordon said a post-season review had revealed the coach's communication with players had become a serious issue in the second half of 2014.

“Macca acknowledged that observation and he promised to work on it, and the fact of the matter is he has worked on it, really hard.

“But it’s also fair to say we were concerned and Macca himself was concerned about whether the position itself was recoverable.

yep, lets race out and get a coach who has been shown the door for failing in the most fundamental area a coach needs to competent, at the bare minimum, in.

On the otherhand  he's been a very highly regarded assistant in the past at geelong and the bombers. Won the assistant coach of the year award by the coaches association in 2010. Just bc he failed at the bulldogs doesnt make him a dud.
he has a good development record before he became a head coach.
dunno about melbourne itself but even over here in perth lots of people have been scathing of his coaching.
sa lot of his team selections have been nothing short of bewildering and his poor game day performances almost as bad. ive thought for at least 12 months now that he would have to go at some stage.

The issue was that he pushed them too hard. That's right.

perhaps it was, just that it didnt stand out due to those around him?

who knows, though?

i find it a concern for a coach to be given the a for that, and bemusing how nearly every coach we appoint gets bagged, all the while every coach sacked/pushed from other clubs we should be trying to get

 ;D

It is a bit of a pisstake.

But yeah in this case, I rate the way he speaks and comes across in public and given the way reverent way Balmey/Mooney speak about his time at the cats is enough for mine.

Does it concern anybody that he was more or less ousted by the players due to communication breakdowns?

Reading between the lines, the problem some had with his communication was they didn't like what they heard. More of a problem with the players not the coach.
From all reports he is very good are very hard especially with his senior players, a couple of things we lack in our coaching department.
IMO he would be a great addition to our club. Enough kids as coaches learning on the job.
