Wallace's post-match press conference
« on: August 06, 2005, 10:50:05 PM »
Wallace's press conference:

* Need to win all 3 games to be in it. That's where we are at.

* We fought the game well but execution was costly. Skill errors mainly came from senior blokes again.

* Had a number of young guys learning the game. Freo were at full strength and we had guys out. Opposite to earlier on in the year when we had our full 22.

* 3 times Freo kicked goals after our set shots missed which equates to 6 goals = game over.

* Not enough cameo roles came from outside of the main midfield match-ups.

* A number of changes obviously need to come at the end of the year as he's inherited the current group.

* Has spoken already to Cambo over there. Told Cambo where he stood and that he wanted him to play on. Cambo wanted to know if he played on to 300 would he have a worthwhile roll. Cambo has two weeks to make a decision as we need to know to work out our list for 2006.

* Graham had back stiffness. May be back next week. Stafford and Tivs will be back next week.

* Terry was happy with Rory tonight.

* Chaffey no better than last week. If he doesn't improve over the following week that's the end of Chaff's season.

There's no doubt our skill errors cost us big time.

So many times players worked hard to win possession and then one skill error would undo all the good work prior to that.

and it begins and ends with sugar, once again he had heaps of possessions but onlt 3 of his kicks actually hir targets! cannot believe he was even mentioned in the bests  esp when his man carr destroyed us!!!

cogs its time we traded you, your possessions and kicks lack oomf, and every time u pass the ball  you float thes high hospital passes and create turnovers!

gasper, the most gutless game i have ever seen u play. more than onc you had the chance to put you body on the line and wimped out and cost us dearly, sure , u may have beat ur man on the score board but ur gutless acts cost us severely!

deledio, u are the man

foley, u are already showing cogs and johnson how to play this game!

bling, got better as the game went on

hyde, brilliant also

tuck , as strong and reliable as he has been!

newman , cant complain, did a great job

hilton, soft on sonme tackling but tried hard!

pettifer, has come of age, his first half was quiet but he tried hard and it paid off with a fantastic 2nd half

hartigan, isnt up to it, trade him.

krak , luvya mate but something is wrong with you, if ur not happy ask to be traded!

simmonds did a great job in the ruck and around the ground

thursfield shows more poise and better decison making than all our senior group!

knobel put his body in when it counted again!

hall , played ok, bit sloppy in his tackling but 4 goals was a not too bad effort

joel, did a great job except for his pissy little chip kicks, when u have that damn ball kick ity long, but along with richo our two only senior blokes out there.

richo , gr8 efforts again , but not enough score board pressure again or impact. not enough reward  4 effort.

once again our kids shone that was a positive but our senior group as a whole failed

Exactly Tezza spot on.

Posters = 3. :banghead

Missing set shots from no more that 50 metres out - disasterous. :banghead :banghead

there's the game right there.

We were the better team in the first half by a long way poor conversion meant we went in 5 points down.

Oh well at least it didn't rain :-\

Wallace was in a philosophical mood after the loss to Fremantle that left the Tigers needing to win their three remaining games to reach the finals. "The side lost 14 games in a row at the end of last year," he said. "Round one we get beaten by 15 goals to make it 15 in a row and it could've been very, very wobbly.

"We were able to get things back in control. I thought early in the season we got ourselves up and running with a full squad of players and were able to beat teams that weren't."

The Tigers' loss to Fremantle means they have lost eight of their past 10 games and face the red-hot Western Bulldogs next week. Dockers midfielder Des Headland was reported after hitting Mark Coughlan high and late after a mark that sparked a melee in which he struck out at Campbell.

Both sides were guilty of over-using the ball in the opening exchanges and Richmond gleefully accepted a five-point lead at the first break.

Brett Deledio and Matthew Richardson goals had the Tigers firing in the second quarter and leading by 12 points, but that was where the Dockers finally awoke from their slumber. Fremantle kicked the final three goals of the quarter to lead by five points at the long break.

The Dockers kicked five goals to three in the third term for a 13-point lead at the final change, and while Richmond had one more burst it ultimately fell short.
