Gold Coast Pick 29

Daniel McKenzie

Athletic midfielder with speed, endurance and agility. Versatile enough to play on small and tall opponents. Shows good game sense and awareness. Amassed 18 possessions and three marks at 89 per cent efficiency against Vic Country in NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. Finished second in the agility run (8.10 sec), third in running vertical jump (94cm), fourth in repeat sprint (24.02 sec) and equal-sixth the 3km time trial (10:07) at NAB AFL Draft Combine.

Collingwood Pick 30 - Reece Mckenzie 196cm – 100kg – Tall Forward

We are stoked Reece is still available. Reece McKenzie is a huge lad. His marking is a real feature. He kicked 35.20 behinds in the TAC cup this year. He’s also a very good mark on the lead and is extremely quick off the mark (2.87 second 20m sprint). We feel we have sewn up our KPF stocks with Reece and Darcy this draft.

Reckon they would be happy with that.
crisp, varcoe, and greenwood  and likely a mid at pick 5 shores up their mids, you can throw scharenberg in there as well as he will virtually be a new recruit after injury this yr.
it leaves em free to target talls in the nd with f/s moore pick 30 and 48.

Yep and don't forget Freeman as well, like Scharenberg his debut season was ruined by injury. Explosive mid who I reckon will be a gun

Ok let's keep this rolling.

Hawthorn Pick 31:- Alex Neal-Bullen
Height: 183cm
Weight: 80kg
From: Glenelg, South Australia
Position: Midfielder

The reigning premiers weakness if any is it's slightly ageing inside midfield. Whilst he was tipped to go slightly later than late second round, the hawks have done their homework with this ready made mid.

Alex led all of his peers at the U18 Championships for total clearances.

After a 2013 season spent in the SANFL reserves, Neal-Bullen made his SANFL league debut for Glenelg in the opening round of the 2014 season and remained there until a minor foot injury kept him out in Round 4. For Glenelg, Neal-Bullen played primarily across half back with the occasional stint in the midfield. For an 18 year old against much more senior opposition, he performed really quite well - 15 disposals a match, along with 5 marks, 2 tackles and 2 clearances a game. He quickly established himself as a small defender, but playing for South Australia in the U18 Championships he would go back to his customary midfield position - where he went on to average 20 disposals, 5 clearances and 4 tackles a game and was arguably South Australia's #1 midfielder. And by ticking off defender and midfielder this year, Neal-Bullen can now lay claim to being a true utility - having also spent time in past seasons as a small forward.

From a purely athletics standpoint, endurance is Neal-Bullen's obvious strength. However,  it's his football brain which is perhaps his biggest advantage. In the midfield, he is a really smart player and he is one of those players who looks better in close and under pressure. He can read the gaps better than most, and just has that knack of getting the ball through to one of his outside receivers, which suits the hawks style of play.

Next up, Go Richo with WCs pick and then the highly anticipated 2nd pick for the Tiges. Will we pick indigenous players up with our first 2 picks?

Pick 32 West Coke
Ed Vickers- Willis
Age: 18 Height: 190cm
Weight: 82kg Pos: Defender

Tall defender with excellent athleticism. Makes good decisions defensively when spoiling or marking, as well as setting up play. Adapted to various roles this year, playing deep in defence, across half-back and tagging in midfield. Recorded a score of 26/30 in the kicking test at the NAB AFL Draft Combine. Had consistent NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 16 touches at 81 per cent efficiency in five matches and winning All Australian honours.

Pick 33
Richmond

Dillon Viojo-Rainbow

Age: 18 Height: 185cm Weight: 80kg Pos: Defender/ Midfield

Medium defender/midfielder with an elite left-foot kick. Sees the game well and makes smart decisions. Can also push forward and kicks long goals. Clean and effective by hand. Averaged 13 possessions in five matches at 73 per cent efficiency in NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. Averaged 17 disposals in 12 games for Western Jets at TAC Cup level.
And.........
He is a classy left foot kick who certainly has the running capacity to play AFL........has high end speed and good endurance.....played 14 games for the Western Jets and was named in the best 11 times so his consistency is a real asset. A defender who can play in the midfield. He will suit Richmond who are looking for a line breaking, skillful, running defender.

I just felt that our excellent record of developing indigenous players would justify these drafting decisions. :shh
Seriously though, they fit our recruiting needs.

Pick 19: Carlton: Jordan De Goey

Fantastic get by the blues. This player is a very damaging kick and extremely strong overhead for his size. Reads the play well and could easily have been picked in the first dozen.  Also plays well in big games with great performances in the TAC cup finals.
if chasing a mid and laverde who i really like was gone no will be gone then this bloke is the one id take at 12 if taking a mid. genuine ball winner versatile and a lovely size.
doesnt seem to be a lot of love about the place for him though to go in the top 10.

Fremantle pick 34

Harrison Wigg
Height: 179 cm
Weight: 74 kg
Position: Defender/midfielder

Beautiful kick of the football. The Dockers think Wigg will be well suited to Subiaco.

Wigg, who ran at the highest disposal efficiency at the National Championships, finished with 18.6 disposals at a top line efficiency of 79 per cent, 3.3 marks, 2.3 tackles, 1.3 clearances and two inside 50s off his six games for the Croweaters. The performances saw him take home not only South Australia’s MVP, but also All Australian honours.
