Air Asia plane lost

Different airline but this is the third plane from a Malaysian airline to go missing. 162 people on board  .

Bodies found unfortunately in the sea

What's the flying hours exp of these 2? I think I read 5 and 2500 respectively which is not a lot

The pilot requested to fly at a higher altitude just before contact was lost but other planes were flying at those heights so the request was denied by traffic control.

Debris found as well. They're now saying a shadow in the sea at 'only' 45m deep may be the crashed plane.

No expert here, but if there was engine failure and a massive headwind or some other reason for the plane to lose thrust, then there would be no lift and the plane would just fall.


I'm sure you know but to just spell it out, the turbines suck in air, compress it then ignite it to generate thrust. The thrust drives the plane forward and wing design makes the air flow under the wing faster than the air over, generating lift. Should engines conk out there should still be enough forward momentum to put the plane into a glide, generating enough lift to slow decent, but if there air thins out or some other reason to lose lift then it is just nothing more than a hunk of metal falling out of the sky.

A combination of pilot error and bad weather may have caused the plane to stall.

Alternatively, it was also reported in the news that one of the bodies had their clothes ripped off which could suggest the plane could have, even partially, broken up mid-air and fallen from a high altitude.

We won't know until the fuselage and black box are found and recovered.

The main wreckage of missing AirAsia flight QZ8501 has been located, Indonesia's search and rescue agency have confirmed.

Search and rescue agency chief Bambang Soelistyo told reporters that the huge relief operation came across big parts of AirAsia Flight 8501 in the Java Sea off the island of Borneo late on Friday night.
