The whole knighthood rubbish was bloody out of touch in the 70s, let alone 2015.

It's as relevant today as the White Australia policy and conscription.

Hands up again who voted this pea brain in?  :lol

You guys are taking this too far, I am a 100% certain that there's a bevy of eighty year old grannies in nursing homes around Australia listening to their transistors and thinking Tony is Fabio the love god incarnate

Even Abbott's justification of hundreds of charities is now found to be bogus  :wallywink.

Care factor zero.

Didn't even know Australia had this honour and without googling Id love for anyone to name 10 people that have been given it.

In saying that, Tony is a tool and this is just another excuse for people to get stuck into him.

Looking at this further, it's comical.

15 men and 4 woman have received this "honour".

Of these, all were awarded prior to 1984 until 5 were awarded from 2014 till now. So it's gone mad in the last 12 months .

Interestingly, Prince Charles is among the 19. So Philip is hardly the standout non Aussie royal.

So we went 30 years without anyone bothering to award this honour to anyone and then there has been 5 on Tony's watch. He's clearly a goose, but nobody seemed to care prior.

Mountain , mole hill.

We went 30 years without it being awarded because the 'knighthood' no longer existed in our Australian awards system in that whole time. Whitlam was the first to scrap it in the early 70s, Fraser brought it back (which is how Charles got one - a joke as well) before Hawke scrapped it again in 1984. No one bothered caring because it didn't exist to care about for those 30 years.

Never mind that he doesn't actually have one drop of Greek blood.

hahaha ramps is back. Gold. Bent over by a greek

WP i hope they do get rid of the monarchy because i think it a lot of australians were fooled last time and really who wants them or needs them.

I am probably contradicting myself a bit here but i dont care about abbott knighting the bloke either because i simply dont care for the award and for 30 years no one really has. Im tipping no one really cared in the 80's when charles was knighted so i put it down to christmas holidays and murdoch trying to sell papers which he clearly has.

who cares move on to bigger issues

He still doesn't have any Greek blood and you know it.
