Duck's Top 8 For 2015MMM
February 25, 2015Wayne Carey says it's still really a bit too early in the season to but we asked him to make this top eight prediction for season 2015.
Duck would like to reserve the right to make a change, as it stands now, here are his top eight!
Six are the usual suspects that were in 2014's top eight but there are two teams that have fallen out and two that Duck thinks will step up.
Duck's Top 8 For Season 2015 (Alphabetical Order): Adelaide
Fremantle
Geelong
Gold Coast
Hawthorn
North Melbourne
Port Adelaide
Sydney
Two Out, Essendon & Richmond:Essendon “With all the turmoil going on, we don’t know what's going to happen, whether players will miss games and (if) they’re going to have a makeshift side,” Duck said.
“Off the back of all of that, Hirdy being back at the club, there’s just too much going on.
“They’ve been superb for the last two years doing what they’ve done, I think it will all get to them this year and I think they might just slip out of that top eight.”
Richmond“Richmond were lucky to get there, they had to win a lot on the trot to sneak in,” Duck said.
“Then really poor performance in that final, it really showed the gap between where Richmond are at.
“I think they’ve got a little bit of work to do, they’re still building and I think this competition’s so tough they squeeze out.”
Two In, Adelaide & Gold Coast:Adelaide“I truly believe that they will come in to the top eight,” Duck said.
“They had their opportunities last year so many times.
“They were in front against the Kangaroos in the latter part of the year in Tassie.
“If they’d have won that game, they make the top eight and Richmond don’t.
“Everything fell in to place for the Tigers and everything fell out of place for Adelaide.
“I think they’ll have a little bit more luck.
“Tex Walker, captain of the club, he’s back, he’s played some footy, another big pre-season under the belt.
“I think they’ll come in.”
Gold Coast Suns“You look through their on-ball brigade, young Jack Martin, we know Ablett, we know O’Meara all of these guys, they just have so much talent through there,” Duck said.
“Rodney Eade with a very, very good first up record at every club he’s been to.
“Only the two when he’s been senior coach, Sydney got them to a Grand Final, went to the Bulldogs, got them into a preliminary final straight away.
“He gets a reaction from these boys.”
