FANS attending either of the two NAB Challenge games at Etihad Stadium on Saturday will be allowed free access to the other match under a two-for-one offer announced by the AFL.

Richmond and North Melbourne will kick off the double-header at 1.10pm AEDT before the Western Bulldogs take on Collingwood, with the second game starting at 7.10pm.

The League announced on Monday that members or ticket holders attending one of the games are eligible to receive free access to the other.

AFL and club members will be able to access the offer by scanning their membership card into the venue for both games, while fans with a daily ticket to either game will need to present it (along with proof of purchase) to ticket booths at the ground to receive the free pass.

Ok I know these are only practice matches, but the real stuff aint far away.
Norths had our measure for a mighty long time and reckon a win will be a real confidence boost mentally goiung into this season.
And for this reason alone IS a must win game.
YEAH

Will be relying on MT's play by play call since I'll be up north for a funeral.

YEAH

Can't we start getting disappointed from round 1?
Not sure I want that to extend to a 28th week

Come on HRT we're a hardy lot. What's an extra week of punishment given the malaise has entered a 33rd successive year?
Here's my summary come Saturday.
We'll beat Nought in general play but the umps will destroy us. They'll be gifted a few charity cheapies goals to Petrie, Harvey and Wells the usual suspects and we'll lose by less than a kick  missing a guilt edge chance that falls to a Grigg, Titch or Vickery just so we can come away saying we have to beat them sooner or later and have the hope carry on for a little longer. It's the law if averages, we are good enough.

The elongated life of a RFC fan in one paragraph.

NAB Challenge: What your AFL club needs to gain from final fixture

Adam Baldwin
Herald-Sun
March 18, 2015 3:41PM

WHILE debate has raged over the merits and length of the pre-season, with just one match remaining before the season proper, it will be on for young and old in week four of the NAB Challenge.

So, after more than five months of training, an intra-club and two NAB Challenge matches, where is your club at?

RICHMOND

After thumping a depleted Port Adelaide, Damien Hardwick will be desperate to get a gauge on his side’s progress against the Kangas on Saturday afternoon. Hardwick says his list is stronger and healthier than this time last season and with Sam Lloyd, Ty Vickery and Ben Lennon firing against the Power, he’s got selection headaches. However, captain Trent Cotchin is no certainty to play as he manages a hamstring injury and Chris Newman is still on track for Round 1 despite a heart scare. Richmond’s ability to win the contested footy and transition from defence was a big factor in its hot finish to the season and this will come under the microscope against a top-four fancy. Another strong performance from Kane Lambert could see him win elevation off the rookie list.

Tigers to feature in shot clock trial

Nathan Schmook
afl.com.au
March 18, 2015

Richmond’s pre-season challenge match against North Melbourne this Saturday will be one of five games to feature a 15-second shot clock for players shooting at goal.

A player's set-shot time will count down on the venue's scoreboard, with a clock appearing when the controlling umpire gives the player his 15-second warning.

It will disappear when the player starts his approach, with the umpire calling time on as normal once it reaches zero.

Players will still have a total of 30 seconds to take their set shot before play on is called.

The shot clock is one of a number of initiatives being tested at Etihad Stadium before the start of the season, which will improve "interaction and understanding of the game" for supporters.

As well as the countdown clock, fans at Etihad Stadium for this week's matches will hear umpire explanations of free kicks and score reviews.

The free kick explanations will be broadcast during scoreboard replays, while the umpire's verdict during score reviews will be broadcast on the ground's PA.

The League will trial a new positioning of the Etihad Stadium roof for the Saturday match involving the Tigers and Bulldogs and the Sunday twilight clash between Carlton and Geelong.

At the end of the pre-season challenge, clubs, players and fans will be consulted for feedback on the trials, which won't be rolled out at other venues this pre-season.
