It's not a Heart murmur!!!!
He has a supra ventricular tachycardia. He will have a electrophysiological study and ablation of the aberrant pathway. This will be done percutaneously through the groin.
He will be able to play in a few weeks.
Whats the difference between a murmer and abnormal rythem?
A murmur is an abnormal heart sound you hear with a stethoscope. It usually signifies a valve problem in the heart - either a valve isn't opening up well enough to let blood through easily or it isn't closing well enough leading to blood going backwards when it shouldn't. It can also be a "flow murmur" which is innocent and is due to higher flow than normal.
An abnormal rhythm is the a change in the normal way a heart contracts due to abnormal spread of the electrical signal that helps co-ordinate the heart. Often it can make the heart beat extremely quickly and thus inefficiently. Some of these abnormal electrical pathways can be "burnt" or ablated forcing the electrical activity to go down the normal paths again.
Ok?
