Brian Royal on club corner
« on: August 23, 2005, 12:51:55 AM »
Brian Royal was on club corner last night.

* Had plenty of inside 50s but missed shots so we knew if we could kick the goals we could comeback. Important win. We were expected to win and thankfully we did.

* Goalkicking conversion - not acceptable on Sunday. Was a main point of our review. We spend alot of time at training on goalkicking and we kick them. Just need to work on doing it on gameday. 11 point turnarounds hurt most as it effects confidence.

* Best players - Tuck stood up in the centre again. Deledio on wing added spark and run late in the game. Simmonds although missed a couple of goals was good around the ground. Similar story for Richo. Pleased with Tambo - Terry put some focus on him at 3/4 time and he stood up.

* Would be surprised if Lids didn't win the Rising Star. 20 possession + 1-2 goal avg last 6 weeks and the only one to play every game this year..

* On the upcoming pre-season and 2006:
- There still needs to be changes to the list.
- We need another tall defender to free up Joel.
- Our depth in midfield ain't great - Tuck, Cogs, Johnson + Foley then thins outs. We also need more run in the midfield.
- Our forward line is quite capable of kicking 16 goals and we get it in there often enough but we need to make the most of our chances.
- Our skill level is well below par for an AFL side so we need to continue to work on that.
