Do people still think it's not a concern?

Big problem. As is pressure, right across the ground.

We desperately need some pace in the forward line.

It depends on the game style we are implementing.

Hawthorn don't tackle a lot and that is fine because they play the way the coach wants them too.

I suspect Hardwick wants us to tackle more, but is unable to get the players to do it.

was thinking about a thread like this myself.
geez we are poor in some areas. we have long been shizen with our attack at the body and tackling.  you know what one sure way of stopping a players run is constantly banging him into the ground.
i dont think i have ever called for hardwicks head but we just continue to do so many basic things poorly that i think its time for a change. tackling is just one area that just doesnt change.

it really is madnees for us to do the same things over and over and expect different results. if we cant even admit theres a problem we certainly remain doomed to keep on failing.

One of the three biggest problems we have.
The other two being not working hard enough both ways and no being direct enough with the ball in hand.

I'm not sure if it is the coaching or the personnel or both but something has to happen. We need to start playing unsociable football.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Our tackling is Brent A  Prismall
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Bulldogs ruckman Will Minson said that four quarter pressure was a big focus for his side coming into the clash against last year’s finallists.

“We were certainly aware that they (Richmond) played a low tackle game last week so we knew that if we put in a lot of tackles it would be something different for them.”

http://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/news/2015-04-12/four-quarter-pressure

--------------------------------------------------------------------

For the record ...

Round 1:  the top tackling side won 6 of the 9 matches for the round.
Four clubs had less tackles for the round than we did (GWS, St K, North & Freo).
               Our tackling differential was -6 ..... (51 - 57)

Round 2:  the top tackling side won 7 of the 9 matches for the round.
Just two clubs had less tackles for the round than we did (West Coast & Carlton).
               Our tackling differenial was -22 ..... (51 - 73)

I think the stat I heard was you win 85% of games where you win the contested ball and tackle count

If basic, fundamental things such as tackling, shepherding & defensive running haven't improved in a coach's sixth year with a side then it's highly unlikely that they ever will while that coach remains in charge.

Hardwick has failed as have the recruiting department and the player development department despite the money, facilities and resources the club has provided the whole football department.

There aren't any excuses for these fellows anymore.

That's pretty much my sentiments and hence I have more or less made my mind up on dimma.

There are a few players who make a token effort to tackle because they are lazy, this includes diving to tackle as the opposition player changes direction, saw this on a few occasions against the Dogs. Have never seen anyone tackle someone while in midair so basically they are taking themselves out of play and don't have to chase. When we lost those games early last season i thought the talk among the players in order to turn things around was to have higher standard both in their training and on field, to me too may players are currently in cruise mode and not willing to do the hard yards. If Hardwick doesn't make a statement at the selection table then his days are definitely numbered given his "favourites" simply don't have what it takes to take the club to the next level.

That's about where I'm at also. Well summed up by Dioc.
