Tigers lack a 'tough mongrel' (afl site)

Watch here: http://www.afl.com.au/video/2015-04-13/tigers-lack-a-tough-a-mongrel

* Barrett - Post-match commentary from Hardwick has a 'sameness' about it. They're still talking about mistakes and rectifying them. After six years, I'm not sure they will.

* Lyon - Deledio and Edwards out of the side hurt them in an area they looked a bit shoddy in - polish and class.

* Lyon - Frustrated as a former forward with where they play Jack Riewoldt.

* Lyon - They didn't seem to have any excitement.

* Lyon - The query on Richmond is the lack of mongrel in the side. They've lost Jackson and King and for different reason Vickery has some physical presence but he's not in the side. Just want a bit more nastiness in that Richmond group.

They would be correct, especially the first one from Cunty Barrett
Caracella and Balmey.

Still remember when we hired Wallace thinking....."Well, if nothing else, at least he should put some mongrel into the side like he did at Footscray".....ten years and a change of coach later, still waiting.....

When can they elevate the biscuit? He's the battering ram we need and I'm pretty sure he likes the physical aspects of the game.

So Hardwick can stick him at forward pocket again then drop him for not playing like Breust, Ballantyne or Betts?

hahahaha yeah that was unbelievable that day. I will go on the record and say that I think he will be very serviceable in the engine room as a battering ram. I don't think the biscuit is afraid of contact and when he did play last year he averaged 5 tackles a game (9 against Hawks when we got spanked) and his contestest vs uncontested possession ratio is around 50/50.

But yes being played out of position isn't good. they can't all be swingmen, and not every midfielder can be deployed as a crumbing forward. The biscuit can snag a goal here and there though.

yeah not so sure getting  one player with mongrel will fix things though it sure would help, always nice to have one or two enforcers.  our real problem is we have too many who are soft and play bruise free footy.

I think most of us thought the same about hardwick instead we have them standing around waiting for the "game to open up" so they can get easy kicks

Yep.
He just has nfi how to recognise a kids natural game.

Instead he employs blokes on the list to fill his vacancies, vacancies created in his mind.
Caracella and Balmey.

Lyon spot on. No excitement. No highlights, boring football.
