Rome is high on my list.
Rome is awesome. Thousands of years of history in the one city and all of it within walking distance. Italy full stop is the great place to travel around.

Berlin is a city that exceeded expectations when I went there.
love Berlin

anyone one here driven through Europe? Any tips? Thinking of hiring a campervan and driving from  Germany through Switzerland into Italy.

Distance doesn't seem very far just seems like a waste to fly all the time. Wouldn't have a clue about their roads though, hence the trepidation.

I did Southern Italy and a lot of France.

We actually used trains for a lot of it and really enjoyed it.

hahaha amsterdam. Never interested me that place but i would like to check it out to cross it off. Apparently its a nice looking city. :lol

Cheers Damo to be honest i think we will probably do this option at some point, most probably out of Berlin into Prague. Any train ride over 10 hrs is asking for trouble with kids.

Might want to give France a miss....

Honestly it is. Would recommend checking it out if you can fit it in, even if it is for a day. I didn't do it driving (no, not for that reason ;D) so I don't know what it'd be like

Throughly recommend doing Europe by train.

Spectacular especially through the Austrian alps

I did all my travel during the day just take in the stunning views.

FWIW did France, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands via EuroRail as it was called in the day (still is I think) was brilliant

And agree with YR, Amsterdam is interesting place on many levels

Thats great advice cheers guys.

Train tickets seem expensive and for 4 might total 400 euros just to get from berlz to say amsterdam. You pay for the view i guess.

I have only planned for Zurich and Leicenstein WP in that region any other places of interest close by worth seeing. Done Vienna and   loved it. Best Schnitzel i've ever had.
