Round 1, 2009 was a watershed.
I determined from that point that I would never, ever anticipate success and chose to wait before basking in their reflected glory.
Haven't looked back since that day.
Can't help thinking that those who hate the club just still expect true success of it only to be let down.
The football is a social event.
i just turn my back in the bad games - it's always the same crap when we play poorly.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Following the Tigers is like having sex.

Take your time and the end result is worth the wait.

Following the Tigers is like when I have sex.

Ends in tears, tissues and an empty feeling.

I think footy to watch was a hell of a lot better in the 90s. Now its all rolling mauls and zones and %100 negative footy.
I reckon the rules have to change, games choose their own path. Look at basketball, offense is protected. You have to shoot, you can't goal tend etc other games go badly the wrong way like Soccer. you can slide tackle, the only player allowed to use hands is a defender, offside and so on. That's why it sux dog balls.

In AFL we have to choose high marks, fast running, quickly moving. At its best Aussie rules is breathless. Today's its rugbyesque.

I don't hate the club but I have resentment alot of it.
Built up over the years obviously and whilst I go as I go with two mates to get away from the wives that resentment is such where I can talk with the lads and not pay attention to the game whatsoever once the pattern of it has been established.

Last season I enjoyed fully was 2001.
Our 6 wins in 2010 especially the Sydney one where Collins was knocked down but returned to kick the winner a highlight plus Jack's 78 goals really gave me the hope after the disaster of 2009 and all our failures from the 82 GF until that Round 1 2009 game where I wanted to believe but there was evidence there so it was all blind I guess from our oart.

Essendon Dreamtime 2011 was great too given we played in front of 83K and won anfd the Sydney and Hawthorn games at the G in 2012. I thought we were staring at something significant, the likes of which we haven't seen as I was only 7 in 1982.

Plus the bragging rights was good given all the crap I copped from family and friends over the journey.

Sadly now I am whatever. I put my ray of hope into the dark tunnel and Benny offered me that dim light and I took it, because it came from him reputable, intelligent, driven, successful off field with AFLPA and most of all he had the respect of the footy community. Enough for me to hang on.

Now even Benny is giving me the skatas.

I was younger and optimistic and once upon a time used to look forward to the footy.

Now its just an excuse to get out of the house catch up with the boys and talk crap while we watch it.

Even my motives for going are hollow. But we press on.

Call it stupidity, call it loyalty, call it not wanting to mow the lawn, call it whatever.

I think we all deserve sustained success and a few premierships given our efforts.

RFC and its fans waiting for a success since 1980. A terrible marriage. I can understand the separation and divorce from the RFC people want to commit to. :help

The last month of season 2014, my feet didn't touch the ground as people were stoppin me in the street congratulating me on RFC historic run.  :dancing This season my rage has barely abated as I peel myself off the ceiling only to hit the roof again with another abysmal performance that goes completely against expectations

How on earth could you not lead this talented side to victory, FMD I reckon Donald Duck with Minnie Mouse assisting could get them up , yet somehow we manage to conjure a loss, that I can't fathom. One thing history has taught me at tigerland is expect the unexpected , wouldn't at all surprise if we come out and won the next five  :shh

I get plenty of enjoyment out of watching MY team play football.  They are MY side because I chose to barrack for them - against the numbers & against the odds, but I backed them & myself to the hilt!  My parents were Footscray supporters & were married during their (only) premiership year, my Dad was friends with & drinking buddy of the late great Teddy Whitten!  (Yep, my old man used go out drinkin' with Teddy! ;D)
Teddy jokingly ribbed me one day & asked why do I barrack for 'that lot', at 4 years of age I eyeballed Teddy & bellowed out, 'Because I bloody do!'  I even had to stick it up Teddy Whitten face to face to barrack for MY Tigers so I wont be backing down now for anything!  It's ok, I got the last laugh - my folks are 40 year Richmond members now!
I can watch other teams play & get a buzz when Jezza takes a hanger, or Plugger kicks a ton, but none of the enjoyment of the game itself rivals the thrill I get when MY Tigers take the field!  Top of the ladder, bottom of the ladder - makes no difference.  Obviously I prefer to win & obviously I cop plenty when we lose, but none of that really matters & never did.  What matters to me is that I back MY team against any odds, that I fly the flag when no one else dares to!  That's what I call enjoyment & I get plenty of it from MY Tigers!

Being a fair dinkum black & yellow striped football beast who never, EVER says die is what excites me.  Some of you should try it some time ...

Really enjoyed last Saturday. Not the result it was crap but took a special family member to the game and he had the best day. Couldn't wipe the smile of his face.

So that was worth it.

Days like Saturday are why I still enjoy going and following this club

whats to enjoy. It truly is out of habit and to get out of the house as to why i go to the footy.

nothing enjoyable about watching a bunch of transvestites running around pretending to be footballers.

This is outrageous coming from a Tiger but I am more interested in watching the Bulldogs, Saints and even the Pies more than the Tigers this year. The Tiges are almost unwatchable if you like free flowing footy.
I enjoy the defensive side of the game and we aren't much chop there either. Have a look at Collingwood, they are playing a tight zone and strangling sides with it. It is so tight almost every one of them can peel off their man and help with the contest. How are they getting away with this? Sides are playing weak, conservative footy, Buckley is using basketball tactics (It looks like an 18 man 3/4 court press) to pick off predictable sluggish sideways kicks and they are running into open goals. Footscray and St Kilda are pretty much doing the same thing.
Meanwhile at Tigerland our players can win all of the major stat categories yet still lose the game. That is a damning stat in itself and Dimma should be ashamed of that.
I think our cattle are pretty good up until the discards and recycleds so it's not a complete disaster.
Yes I am talking bout a 2-3 year mini rebuild. Let's trade off a couple of our stars and give the list a refresh.

My marriage ended around the time we were 3-10 last year.

When you are in a "sucky" marriage - all you have is football . It is your escape. Football can consume your life.

Now I am really enjoying being single again - it's hard to get too upset with the Richmond football club when you have a hot date later that night.

But - if I was still married ....probably be on suspension from the moderators because this club will drive you insane.
