I made some tongue in cheek comments in another thread however I should say this..

Its pretty much a double edged sword

Beat norf rd 23 and play them the week after in week 1 of finals.
Positive- gets the mozz off our back
negative- they pick apart our gameplan during that week and use it against us in week 1 of the finals possibly ending in loss.

Lose to norf in rd 23:
positive: roadtrip 
negative: travel to adelaide against an in form Crows, who are not unbeatable at all. But already started the finals campaign on a bad foot by travelling, good side, and a REAL home ground advantage and plus we would probably cop all of Stevic, Mciinery and Razor in the one umpiring squad 

Personally I think we should have more faith in the boys next friday, though Im used to waiting for the punchline which involves me disappointed

Richmond 5th (North Melbourne, Friday night at Etihad Stadium) (56 pts, 121.4%)

The good news is that the Tigers will be in the finals for the third straight year. The bad news is that they'll probably still miss the top four again, even if they can beat North on Friday night. Would only make the top four if they defeat the Roos and Sydney lose to Gold Coast, and even then Richmond could still be usurped on percentage by the Dogs. By winning against North the Tigers would secure a home final at the MCG, but lose and they might have to travel to Sydney or Adelaide.

There's a third option - rest all our stars as Ross Lyon did with Freo a couple of years ago and go the tank  . Let North win by 10+ goals and let them jump above us on %. That would mean North head to Adelaide while we get an 'away' EF home at the 'G against the Dogs.

Hasn't really changed our chances of finishing top 4. Maybe a slimmer chance (was already very slim) but we can still do it if we win by enough next week and they lose by enough next week (roughly 20 points) so not entirely unrealistic but very unlikely

Won't happen. North will want to win but keep the margin managable so percentage does not become a factor. That is why the start on Friday will be critical because if we can break away to an early lead it will make it harder for them to reign us in and manage it to their advantage.

Hopefully we can hold them at bay and they can resign themselves as the game goes on to the fact they have to front up to us again in successive weeks but this time on our home patch. We have only played them once at the G since 2010 and that was a 4 point loss in 2012 when we should have won.

I see it is as a two legged cup tie. Get the result away from home on Friday if you know what I mean, get the Nought monkey off our back and our momentum might be like a runaway freight train in week 1 against them.

No excuses.  To overcome our fear we have to face it, embrace it it and beat it.

The same sort of stuff we used to say about Round 1 and Carlton every year.

Kill the Nought monkey on Friday. Kill the finals monkey the week after.

It's money time Tigers. Show up or shut up.

- They finish fourth if Gold Coast upsets the Sydney Swans
- They finish fifth as long as the Bulldogs don't thrash the Brisbane Lions by around 90 points
- They'll finish sixth if they only narrowly beat the Kangaroos and the Bulldogs thrash the Lions by around 90 points

If they lose next week:
- They'll finish sixth if Geelong beats Adelaide, but would still host an elimination final
- They'll finish seventh and travel to Adelaide Oval for an elimination final for the second straight year, this time against the Crows, if the Crows beat the Cats next week.

Predicted finish: Fifth
