Channel 7’s call of Fremantle-Richmond clash sparks reaction from fans on social media Herald-Sun
June 06, 2015 RICHMOND won the match but some footy fans believed commentators calling Friday night’s AFL clash could only see one team during their call of the Round 10 opener.
Twitter lit up at different periods throughout the match, with some fans believing Channel 7’s commentary team — spearheaded by the calling team of Basil Zempilas and Dennis Cometti — were too focused on Fremantle as they tried to generate excitement among viewers.
The Dockers, unbeaten from nine matches leading into the clash, were stunned early — trailing by eight goals to one and falling behind by as much as 49 points.
Urged on by their home crowd, Fremantle did fight back and managed to get within 20 points.
But many fans were upset by the commentary team’s constant talk of a Fremantle comeback.
Zempilas’ Twitter feed was obviously running hot throughout the match.
The broadcaster responded to some fans after the match.
