KB: Tigers are missing something, what is it?

After a discouraging loss to West Coast on Friday night Kevin Bartlett has admitted that the Tigers are missing a link that will need to be found for them to be contenders.

Their first game after the bye following four straight wins was billed as their march towards a top four finish, but instead the Eagles further improved their chances of a double chance.

However, news of key defender Alex Rance re-signing with the club for four more years did provide some positive news for fans.

“That’s the good news on the back of a disappointing performance,” said Bartlett on SEN radio.

“The Tigers have got to try and find something, there is a missing link somewhere.

“Last night was a big game coming off a terrific win against Freo, they had a week break coming to the MCG – really good sides come out and win that game.”

It is fair to say the jury is still out on whether this list is capable of making a Grand Final given their inconsistent results in the last two and a half years.

“They’ve made it to the finals the last couple of years and got belted,” said Bartlett.

“I don’t know if it’s a player missing.

“Is it intensity?  Is it players getting ahead of themselves, or do they lack a small forward that can kick goals?

“I like the idea of three talls on the forward line, I like that setup.

“Is there a hardness about the side that just goes missing when the other team puts their foot on the accelerator?”

Herald Sun journalist Jon Ralph believes that a quality small forward will make a difference but that the core of the list still requires development.

“They want a small forward and Steven Motlop is one that Brendon Gale confirmed they are keen on,” said Ralph.

“He wasn’t the missing link last night, although Steven Morris wasn’t great.

“They need improvement from within, one player won’t turn them into a premiership contender.”

Just popped in for a look and saw this thread.

LOL KB has just worked out we are missing something.
We have just 1 tall fwd of note and get all excited about the other  two hacks when they have a servicable game, which aint often.    We have just 1  kpd who if he has an off day or doesnt play, the rest of the weak minded pricks down back fall to pieces.
We have a battling ruckman whos on his last legs and he has   no backup to help out despite playing two 200cm blokes with hearts the size of peas.. We lack a  small forward but hey the super dud morris will do just fine we are gunna win a flag with the likes of morro lol.,

No running defender of note yet super dud batchelor is picked every week over players with better attributes..
We lack a big inside mid yep we all know its true but nothing is ever done about it.
We lack a shut down sml/med defender of note but wait we could play morro there and win a flag haarrgghhh., We lack a super quick highly skilled outside mid who gets plenty of ball and  runs lines all day in the mould of steven hill.

FFS  kb you just worked out we are missing something hilarious.

It never ceases to amaze me at just how much a few wins sees people become so blinkered. It seems it affects even the so called experts.

They may well make finals, Imo  that would be more a reflection of the overall standard of the comp. rather than a reflection on their ability to win a premiership. They are miles off it and they need to stop kidding themselves.

Arnot, batchelor, chaplin, dea, elton, gordon, griffiths, grigg, grimes, hampson, hunt, foley,  knights, lloyd, maric, mcdonough, morris, newman, petterd, thomas vickery, pee em all off. either battlers or past it the lot of em.

Anyway thats my opinion see ya all another time.

perhaps etc could fill that role better than something?
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

And my thoughts than your thoughts."

We're brittle because our plan relies on getting the ball into the right peoples hands. We have a lack of depth basically everywhere. And backline needs experience but hey we are improving slowly. At least we have a competitive 22. If all goes right and we get our best 22 on the park which we largely have now then we're pretty good. But if lose 1 or 2 of our key 5 or 6 we struggle. Thats just too brittle.

Been calling this for years ask chuck and al, we are still about 3-4 short of a GF side, Morris and Batch are two that need the door. We need Treloar and maybe we have the others in the twos!!
DIMMA - You will be held ACCOUNTABLE...

“We are really excited about what we have brought in. We have got great depth of players that can take us where we need to go. We are just putting some cream on the top at the moment,” he said.

Treloar yes please- give them Conca and our first pick plus 700 a year for his troubles
Carlisle yes please
Motlop for a cheap pick.
Jake Neade

That will do

Out go Conca, Knights, Newy, Foley, Hammer, Grigg

I like it Angus but if we get one of Treloar, Carlisle or Motlop we have done really well, if we get Jake Neade we have attempted to fill a hole.
What worries me is Dan Richardson saying that you don't always need a star when using FA. Reading between the lines this scares me a bit.

a selfish, undersized one way running player with no defensive mindset/skills what so ever?
