95 Semi-final - 10 years ago this weekend
« on: September 09, 2005, 03:41:50 PM »
SEN had Scotty Turner on chatting about the 95 semi-final win. He still obviously enjoys thinking about THAT shirt-front  ;D

A ripper of a game. Sadly a false dawn that along with the 2001 finals held us back in mediocre-land for the past 10 years  :-\.

What a day, would have to be one of the most memorable days of my life.

I wont forget that win, it was a ripper.

Also wont forget going close to having a punch on with Michael Long at the Essendon Grand later that night also. As my birthday is in September i was out for dinner with friends to celebrate my birthday and as it turned out the fantastic win by the Tigers.

Stayed on at the Grand until stumps and when leaving bumped into Michael Long, with a gut full of dutch courage i proceded to give him a verbal spray about how good the Tigers were and also how crap Essendon were.

I probably owe his friends a drink for holding Longy back as i am sure he would have punched the suitcase out of me ;D

Gracious in victory Bull lol.

Here's the stats and Richmond team:

Richmond  3.2  4.4  9.7  12.14-86
Essendon  3.3  9.4  9.6  11.7-73

Goals: Knights 3, Rogers 2, Turner 2, Naish 2, Daffy 2, Charles 1.

B:   Duncan Kellaway  Scott Turner        Chris Bond
HB: David Bourke       John Howat        Jamie Tape :(
C:   Stuart Maxfield     Matthew Knights  Nathan Bower
HF: Michael Gale        Brendan Gale       Nick Daffy
F:   Matthew Rogers   Justin Charles       Chris Naish
R:   Greg Dear          Paul Broderick       Wayne Campbell

Int: Mark Merenda,  Ashley Prescott, Stuart Wigney

What a silky skilled backline especially with Duncan and Boukey down there lol.

At the time who would have thought 8 of them would eventually end up at other clubs while others disappeared into oblivion after 95.
