There was none other in my view. I had the pleasure of being there for his hat trick and 700th wicket.

This is going to hurt and I hope he gets a state funeral.

The Great Southern Stand at the MCG will be renamed the S.K. Warne Stand.

The Victorian government has also offered a state funeral for Warne, with details yet to be confirmed.

The Warne memorial tonight was very well done. A great tribute to his life.

The hardest part though was watching his kids give their brave, heartfelt personal speeches about their dad. Heart wrenching  :'(.

Great night well put together. Agree kids were great and very emotional. . Sammya stories were funny, as was all the speakers.

He would have been great to meet in person. I missed him in the Carribean WC of 2007 as he retired. That would have been my only chance as it was easy to mingle with the players on that tour. Anyone on here met him?

He was an absolute champion on the field, and a very humble and fantastic human off it.

RIP Queen Elizabeth II

The thing that stands out the last few years is her sense if humour

The London Olympics Queen & James Bond sky diving into the Stadium

And just this year for her Diamond Jubilee the "skit" with Paddington Bear was just priceless

Wish we had seen more of that

And then the saddest picture of her sitting alone at Prince Phillip's funeral last year. Refusing special treatment because Britain was in lockdown

And then the photos from the other day. Yes she looked frail but seeing her smiling a beautiful photo of her.

And FWIW I'm not a monarchist just always respected her

And now her truly inspiring and charismatic son gets to take over

Sigh

RIP Queen Elizabeth

x3 for the not a monarchist

Side note - after hearing she died I instantly thought of Paul Keating putting his arm around her .. the furore back then was amazing. You would have thought he’d gone the grope … could you imagine the reaction in PC correct softie 2022 .. the world would have stopped spinning

Great post WP.

Some of the stories today on 3AW about her were really funny.

RIP Christine McVie

Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie has passed away at age 79

Songwriter, pianist and singer for so long I always believed she was the glue that held that band and its egos together. Why? Because she didn't have an ego.

One of my great musical joys was seeing what I've always said is the true Fleetwood Mac in Melbourne when Christine rejoined the band after a well earned break

Mick, John, Christine, Lindsay and Stevie together playing all their classics. With Christine on grand piano closing the show with Songbird

Memories
