Surgery for Griffiths, Ellis
richmondfc.com.au  July 28, 2015 4:38 PM

Richmond key forward Ben Griffiths and young midfielder Corey Ellis are both set for stints on the sidelines through injury.

Griffiths is expected to miss 8-10 weeks, with surgery required to repair a tendon in his finger, which he damaged in last Saturday’s loss to Fremantle.....

...Ellis is facing a recovery of 4-6 weeks, with minor surgery required to repair a foot injury.

The Club’s first pick in the 2014 National Draft made his comeback to the field in the VFL last weekend, after missing four weeks prior with a hip flexor injury.

they say minor...but who knows...
no need to rush him...
happy for him to get well and build up to a proper full pre-season this time around...
no need to rush him back to play finals i wouldn't have thought

We couldn't get the original Bungfoot Trengove so we drafted Bungfoot Trengove Mk.II instead...

Wow, well let's get them right for next year now. Particularly Ellis, particularly if it's C Ellis!

Similar injury but the opposite foot.

----------------

Football manager Dan Richardson said Ellis's injury was similar to the problem he had pre-season but on the opposite foot, with the Tigers choosing to take a conservative approach with the prized youngster.

The No.12 selection at last year's NAB AFL Draft arrived at Tigerland with a foot issue and underwent minor surgery in December.

"It wasn't a specific injury, he developed some soreness post-game and upon further assessment, and based on what he experienced on the other foot, we decided it was best to get it sorted out now," Richardson told AFL.com.au.

"He's certainly shown some good patches at AFL level this year but you've got to think long-term with young players."

Richardson said the Tigers had not ruled out a return this season for either Ellis or Griffiths.

"Some times things heal quicker than expected," he said.

"Eight to 10 weeks is an estimate at this point (for Griffiths) and we'll have a better idea of how it's progressing a couple of weeks in."
