The umps always pick a deserving winner but they don't appear to take into account which player wins the game. Franklin getting votes ahead of Browny when Browny had 23 disposals and kicked 3 goals in round 2 was laughable. And again against the Hawks Lids gets 26 possessions and was the catalyst for our win yet gets no votes
.
Hodge and Everitt has excellent seasons but how they got that many votes in a side that won just 5 games is mindboggling. Getting heaps of possessions in Clarkson's indirect handball crazy gameplan didn't do anything to win games for the Hawks. Same goes for Nick Stevens with 11 votes for the wooden spooners with just 4 wins.
Surprisingly Joel didn't poll a vote. Umps obviously don't rate sweeper and rebounding types.
No big deal, umpires don't rate classy centremen either. eg Geoff Raines B&F 1980 in a premiership year got zero Brownlow votes.
KB, Raines, Cambo ... the umps must just have it in for Richmond with Scott West not far behind
.
