Troy Chaplin on SEN - 27/08/15
« on: August 27, 2015, 04:51:18 PM »
Troy Chaplin was just on SEN's 'the run home' with Schwarz and co.:

* Do players get nervous about this time of year regarding contracts, trades, etc?  If you're out of  contract then maybe but when you're about to play finals you put that sort of stuff on the burner. Some of the guys running around in the VFL will be hoping to continue on next year.

* Trade & free agency talk is all innuendo. We leave that stuff to Blair Hartley & Dan Richardson. Hopefully, we're a club with an environment that appeals to good players and they want to come here.

* We've struggled a bit this year kicking a score but we've been able to rectify that in the last couple weeks thanks to Ty, Lids as well as Jack hitting the scoreboard. Add Dusty & Edwards and it becomes a bit of a nightmare for opposition defenders. It's good that we haven't had to rely on Jack to kick a big score.

* A fine won't hurt Dusty with the money he's on [laughs]. Not a good look that kind of stuff. We want to celebrate within the confines of the team and with our teammates.

* Improvement has occurred due to natural progression but also we've been a lot smarter with the footy. Past years and earlier this year we tried to play too fast. We're now using the ball smarter and settings up numbers behind the ball to keep opposition teams to a low score. We haven't had too many lulls this year apart from the first 6 weeks.

* He would open up his wallet for Treloar if he wants to come here [laughs]. KB has a history of spreading these kind of rumours though. Any trade/FA has got to fit in with the needs of the club. Deal with it after the season has finished.

* Chris Knights has been a terrific bloke at our footy club. Supporters, unfortunately, haven't seen the best of Chris. He kicked 50 or so goals when he was at Adelaide one year. He's had a shocking run with injuries especially that knee against Port. He'll play VFL this week and is still a chance to sneek in the side if injuries hit.
