Collingwood could chase free agent Matthew Kreuzer to improve key position depthHerald-Sun
September 7, 2015CARLTON free agent Matthew Kreuzer could join Collingwood in a bold bid to bolster the Magpies big man stocks next season.
The Magpies emerged on Sunday as serious players for the 200cm ruck-forward after missing out on Geelong tall Mitch Clark late last year.
The Herald Sun confirmed the Pies’ strong interest in the No. 1 draft pick, who is set to leave Carlton in a move that could arm the rebuilding Blues with the top two choices in this year’s draft.
However, a formal Collingwood offer will hinge on stringent medical assessments of Kreuzer’s troublesome foot and reconstructed knee.
But with Hawthorn, Richmond and Western Bulldogs also circling Kreuzer, sources said the strong interest in the 26-year-old would likely drive his contract price up around that mark, despite his wretched injury history.
Carlton is believed to have taken its most recent offer to Kreuzer off the table.
