Build a Team
« on: October 03, 2015, 05:17:04 PM »
Until we trade out the crap. Trade in talent. Really buy into free agency and build a team like the Hawks where every player has the talent and does their job then we are a long way off

Don't worry about us beating them mid year this team today is what a team is all about.they have built their team very smartly!!!

Looking at our team, if you can call it that, we have a lot to get rid of.

Frawley
McEvoy
Lake
Gibson
Hail
Burgoyne

Who did I miss?

All from other teams. We are delusional to think a team can be build by drafting alone.

Griff
B Ellis
Grigg
Houli (maybe)
Conca
Batchelor
Chaplin
Lloyd
Gordon

Must go through trade or delisting, we cannot expect to win finals or a GF with this lot.

Thing is,
Even if the RFC managed t get bunch of great players, they'd still stuff the development thru
Their inept strategies at board level and a football level.

Hardwick should be told to pee of.
The guy just doesn't have what it takes. He's done well to achieve what he has(n't) but the issue of him as coach needs to be addressed as urgently as the list.

Hawks built a dynasty while we built a sissy club.

Agree but we never seem to be able to identify players apart from Miles. When we do have them they are either injury prone or disinterested.
Selecting griff conca and newman in the prelim must have really deflated several players and sends a shocking message to the rest of the group.

Hardwick was involved with the successful Hawthawn model. Why he doesn't follow it bemuses me.

I can see now why very good players want to go to clubs such as the Hawks, they build successful sustainable teams, for a long time.

We need to start our team building this trade and FA period with Bennell, Yarran and we need to go flat out for a couple more while turning the crap out and drafting well.

Yes but do we have the recruiting stall to accomplish this?
Methunks no

Start by showing FJ & BH the door. How long does a club have to put up with substandard recruiting?
Pay the money and get some decent recruiters.

The development is still a concern after the club has promised us that it's an area of prime importance. I still think they can get better people that can do a better job, whatever they are doing isn't enough and thanks to the faithful fans, money isn't an issue any longer.

The coaching staff need an overhaul. If Hardwick has to be coach,  personally I don't think Hardwick is the guy but if it has to be him then let's get some decent assistance for him and maybe an ex senior coach that can add something to the dynamic. We see Ratten in the Hawks box celebrating and getting lauded by Clarkson for his contribution to the club.
And what the hell does Lade do? Or is he just a good mate?  He's not a career coach looking to coach senior footy? Has he got the passion to succeed and be a part of a dynasty? Let's get some blokes with ideas and a passion to succeed.

I think Hardwick needs more help and we have the $$$$$ but aren't prepared to spend them where it's needed.
The club that keeps giving.

Not sure Geelong had many (if any?) players from other clubs aside from Ottens during their 3 premierships. This was a little different as FA hadn't been introduced but it illustrates there is more than 1 way to build a premiership list. Culture and development are as important as recruitment.
