Rodan's game is a bit like a ferrari driven by a blind man. Knows how to accelerate but apart from that has no idea on what to do next and invariably ends up hitting a brick wall. We need quality disposal to our forwards and his run and pop gun approach doesn't do our team any favours. Fiona was almost the same but slightly more indirect and had a tendency to run in circles too often.

If he wants to go, let him. No great loss as far as I'm concerned.

Im sorry but i just dont think Rodan is was or ever will be a Richmond Premiership Player.

The days of the small rover midfielders seem gone IMV. That's why I have my reservations about Foley as well. I hope I'm wrong but you look at the midfielders we are competing against and they're big strong-bodied boys. 

foley is different to rodan in many ways  and can survive with the big boys. why do usay this, because1/ he wins his own ball and 2/ he is also an in and under type. and btw , its an advantage being short when ur an in and under type .
he is not a receiver and dosnt mind teh hard stuff unlike rodent

I agree on Foley. To small, squad player at best but the truth is he deserves a chance. hes got 12 months otherwise he'll be gone as well.

IIRC Rodan went through a similar bluffing routine last time his contract was due, asking for more than he had shown he was worth.  Still, can't blame a young bloke for wanting a beach house and a flash car in the garage.  but his manager should be advising him better.  Its one thing for a big-name players manager to up his contract through the media, but it does a fringe player no good to negotiate contracts that way. If anything, it just puts their career at risk.  Rodan should just be happy he is on an AFL list and doing everything he can to get back up playing footy.

THE future of Richmond midfielder David Rodan remains uncertain after trade week.

Rodan, who missed this year with a knee injury, is yet to accept the Tigers' offer.

The 22-year-old has been asked to take a significant pay cut on a one-year deal.

Rodan is believed to have been prepared to test the water in trade week, but there were no takers. The complicated Jonathan Hay deal swamped smaller trades.

Richmond football director Greg Miller last night said Rodan's manager had rejected a deal put to him last week.

"We haven't spoken since, but we expect everything will be fine," Miller said.

The Tigers are cautious about Rodan after his knee reconstruction, despite the 2001 draftee's potential.

Rodan's choices are to knuckle down at Punt Rd and chase a more lucrative contract from 2007 or nominate for the pre-season draft.

Rodan ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in a practice match at Morwell in March, ending his season. He played all 44 matches in his first two seasons at the Tigers.

Sounds like a bit of media beat-up. The offer give or take some tweaking seems fair enough for a player who is coming off a ACL and who despite (luckily) playing every game hadn't done much in his first 2 years of footy except for a couple of flashy games. If he stays he's got a year to prove he's more than just a fringe player.

this is the 2nd time hes tried this when his contract has been up for renewal. sack him- our club shouldnt have to put up with this type of poo from players like rodan.
