Given how restricted Rioli was tonight with that corked hip (?), I'm guessing he won't be playing next week especially with us flying over to Perth.

I thought Rioli was better yesterday.

He was definitely BOG if we were playing volleyball- he loves to do the mid air spike.  :lol

His best game for a while IMO.

Don’t know how to describe what’s happened to his game. Looks very timid, with his attack on the ball and the player. Like he is injured and us avoiding pain.

He got smashed and copped corkies about 3-4 weeks in a row early in the year and had to be rested

Hasn’t been the same since

The Tiger who needs to "lift his game"

By SEN
15 Aug 2019

Terry Wallace says Richmond small forward Daniel Rioli needs to raise his game.

Rioli has only kicked 13 goals in 17 games for the Tigers in 2019 and could be under pressure in the lead up to finals.

“I think there’s three or four players (at Richmond) who are around the edges at the moment,” Wallace said on SEN's The Match Committee.

“I’ll tell you who wants to lift his game. Daniel Rioli wants to lift his game.

“He’s not playing good footy at all at this stage.

“I think most Richmond supporters would say that he’s not playing at the levels he has.”

If we are all honest, he has barely played a good game since 2017.

To me he seems a little disinterested... or maybe that’s just his laidback nature but it doesn’t look great IMO.

He needs a big game to get some confidence.

Considering he had a very severe foot fracture sustained in the final moments of the 2017 GF, it’s amazing he actually played at all last year. I agree he hasn’t starred this year but I go just about every week to the footy and I have watched him closely. His finishing is what hasn’t been at the standards we expect from him but he still is the guy chasing and harassing the opposition backs more than anyone else. That might not come up on the tackle numbers but his pressure point numbers would be near the top. That’s his role and he has performed it at a level that has kept him in the team. When it has dropped off a little, he has been dropped to the seconds.

Still is an important part of our best 22. I hope he can finish his work a bit better now we are at the pointy end of the season. That would make us even harder to beat.
