well done to those concerned who played a part in this decision of re-signing this dud.

Joe Russo saw the writing on the wall and wanted change to deliver us a flag, but no  benny fail, dan the flog and peggy sue's collective  imput got exactly what they wanted. Stability and a dud coach for the next 3 years.

well done idiots.
Nar, I heard Dimma has a good game plan. We are in good hands.

WP was very vocal against the appointment of russo. Pretty sure stability was mentioned.

Now if our very own peggy sue cites stability in her rhetoric, then what do you think her preference was in regards to dimwit's contract?

They are so scared of being perceived as "eating their own" they have gone too far the other way. 8 year deal to a bloke who is now a proven failure is incredible.

Another masterstroke hiring this bloke.

RICHMOND insists it doesn’t need to rebuild and has defended its recruiting strategy as its nightmare season lurches from bad to worse.

Tigers football boss Dan Richardson said the club knew its mature-age recruits couldn’t take it to a flag, but were forced to take them in the GWS and Gold Coast-forced compromised drafts.

Richardson said the club’s disastrous 1-5 start and slim chance of playing finals wouldn’t deter it from trading early picks for that elusive A-grade player.

“The list strategy won’t change. Clearly we need to improve our top-end talent and the best way to do that is through early draft picks, which we don’t know whether we’ve got yet, or by bringing in some A Grade talent and to do that you need to give up early draft picks,” Richardson said.

Richardson told Triple M that Richmond had recruited the right players in recent years.

“Through the compromised draft period we did bring in a balance of mature age players and draft picks and we were well aware a lot of those mature-age players wouldn’t be able to take us to the next step,” he said.

“We won 15 games last year with a list that’s not drastically different to what it is now. Clearly there’s some injuries and young players who are probably showing a bit of inconsistency at the moment,” he said.

“That certainly doesn’t mean that in Round 6 we’re throwing the white flag up and saying, ‘The season is over’. But clearly we’re not happy with where we’re at.

“We’re certainly not rebuilding, but we know we need to improve and move on from some of the mature-age talent we brought in during the compromised drafts that have taken us to three finals series without winning one.”

excuses excuses excuses. Was it GWS and GC fault that we gave hamspud an extra year and was it their fault we gave up 6 for a spud like conca.

more spin from the kings of spin.

Wow!

Defending the undefendable.
We are clearly delusional as a collective group at Tigerland.

I have made it very very clear that I was against the contract extension given before round 1 there was no need for it. It was stupid

However, you have conveniently forgotten that your mate Russo said Hardwick was a good coach, expected him to be retained. Don't let that little comment of his get lost in your rant

of course he said that. To keep people like yourself from necking yourself at the thought of a change in leadership and "stability"

"Necking yourself"  :huh exceptionally poor taste

Anyway... I was against him because he promised the world but had no plan on how to deliver on his promises. And more to the point he made statements on things (read made promises) he no idea about.

He like you clearly have no idea how a board expspecially one at a footy club operates.

LMAO
That Russo clown said he thought Hardwick was a very good coach.

sure some big mouth wop who thought hardwick was a good coach would have been the saviour. lol

funny how the unthinking always believe it is down to one or two people, to either blame for the crap or to magically fix the crap

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

It's staggering that Hardwick has coached our club for more games than all but two past coaches - Hafey and Dyer.

Even with our history or 'eating our own' the fact that we've extended his contact for TWO years without meaningful success is an indictment on the club.
