RICHMOND

To not finish ninth in 2016? No, sorry, that's petty. Winning a final would be a nice starting point, having been bundled out in September for three straight years by Carlton, Port Adelaide and North Melbourne. Coach Damien Hardwick sure hopes this a season of pushing deep into finals, as he approaches the final year of his existing contract. So come on big man in the red velvet suit, deliver some Christmas joy and give those long-suffering Richmond fans a first finals win since 2001!

Here’s a look at what every club needs from Santa to ensure it enjoys a fruitful 2016 season.

RICHMOND

A finals win. If three straight elimination finals exits becomes four then the Tigers faithful will be calling for swift action. Considering how difficult it is to secure a finals position, the do-or-die nature of the first week is brutal. Achieving a top four position will take some pressure off, but they still need to get the monkey off their back.
