Rounds 1 to 5 - Will we get off to a flyer?
« on: February 01, 2016, 04:44:44 AM »
The past two years we've blown any chance of a top 4 finish, and avoiding an elimination final, thanks to terrible starts to the season. In 2014, we were infamously 3-10 before flying home with 9 straight wins; while last year, we were 2-4 before clicking into gear.

You'd hope this year there will be some effort to hit the ground running early on so we aren't playing catch up again 'only' to finish 5th-8th.

So do you think we will get off to a flyer in the first month?

1. Carlton @ M.C.G.
2. Collingwood @ M.C.G.
3. Adelaide @ Etihad
4. West Coast @ Subiaco
5. Melbourne @ M.C.G.

Could be / should be 4-1 minimum

But reckon we will be 3-2

Anything less than 5-0 will be a disappointment. Ty Vickery to kick 10 against the Pies.

West coast will be tough.

Collingwood and Adelaide are danger games.

Carlton and Melbourne should be percentage boosters ( but probably won't be )

If all players play according to an expected level of a team determined to finish top four and win finals then I would expect the team to be 5-0 after five rounds.
Barring injury to Rance or Deledio or Maric or Reiwoldt or Cotchin. If we lose any one of these key players I think we'd struggle to make the eight.

A realistic expectation would be 3 wins.

However, taking into account the culture of mediocrity that we now call "the skata cycle" plop plop plop™ (used by permission), I am also expecting or wouldn't be surprised with a 1 win 4 loss opening.

Let's just hope we beat the cheating scum round one!

Anything less than 3 -2 and Hardwick should be sacked...

Predicting 3 wins 2 losses

Wins
Carlton
Collingwood 50-50
Melbourne 50-50

Losses
Adelaide
West Coast.

Collingwood and Melbourne are not gimmies. If we can beat all of the three mentioned, plus either of Adelaide or West Coast we would have improved.

As Adelaide doesn't have dangerfield anymore surely we'd be favourites?

The question is though, how much of a go do you think is acceptable or not acceptable? :whistle

Should be 3 and 2 possibly 4 and 1.
