AFL’s tackle-to-hurt era is over

SYDNEY premiership coach John Longmire says the brutal tackle-to-hurt era is over. The AFL will this year introduce rules and tribunal guidelines as it tries to stop the crunching sling tackles that can cause concussion.

The problem with theses rules and tribunal guidelines is a lack of consistency from week to week and from incident to incident. The MRP roulette wheel is bad enough as it is. It seems the sling tackle rule will be no different to the bump rule where the duty of care is on the tackler. You'll only get pinged if you cause concussion or injury.

It's not a sling tackle or even a trip if your Brownlow favourite (Fyfe) performs the act….. :whistle
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.
