Damien Hardwicks contract performance triggers
« on: April 02, 2016, 03:49:14 PM »
Have heard from a very reliable source high up in the RFC that Harwdicks performance triggers under the contract extension are not to make finals this year but perform a mini rebuild while still being competitive.

He has been told to play such players as Rioli, Menadue, Short, Cellis etc etc and manage out poor performers such as Chaplin, Batch, Hunt etc etc

Make of it what you will but the person should know

My mail is Dimma still thinks we are playing NAB challenge and is selecting teams accordingly.

I have seen with my own eyes a piece of chicken crap performance 2 weeks in a row.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Well Chucky - don't know if you're just being you, or if this is true....but actually wouldn't mind if the latter was the case....can't see us making the finals this year with same old plodders anyway and would even prefer finishing 14th with young talented kids than 9th or 10th with the aforementioned plodders.....

so far he has shown a penchant for playing kids that we havent seen for a few years - but then he goes and selects hunt :huh3

Yep as frustrating as this season would be, it would be great to finish lower because we've blooded younger guys in and not used the same old mecernaries.
Come in next year without Hampson,  Grigg,  Hunt etc
Some new high draft choices and a gun like Prestia or O Meara and a FA ruck and we are starting to look better.

I see our list going through a little turnover with menadue, c Ellis, astbury, Rioli, short all getting games. I like it. Times running out for jack, rance, Deledio, Maric however

Of course the glaring flaw in this new approach is that Hardwick still remains the coach...

Wouldn't mind this to be the case but would have liked to have traded some older heads out if we are trying to extend our premiership window

This makes no Lennon even more bizarre

Given our terrible  trade performance it seems like the only way to build depth. But even then what's to say we limit our trading to say pick 24 for Zac Dawson and then pee away the rest of the picks on your Conca types.

Hmm, can you be given direction from the off field department (official or underhanded) to play specific players? I could understand an objective along the lines of development over final ladder position, but beyond that surely any player decisions is the sole domain of the coaching department.

However, I certainly don't mind that type of ethos. If you look at our list and ask yourself without injuries and with everyone playing at maximum capacity can we win a flag? If the answer is no, which I think it is, then you would attempt something along these lines. Deledio is probably being managed accordingly, why waste games on his ageing legs in games that don't matter.

Still, are we sure there's a part of us that isn't rationalising Friday nights loss somewhat? Its the only thing that helps me get to sleep at the moment....
