The problem is that the hierarchy went with players in 2015 who are never going to get us to a top four position and I would have thought this was obvious. Players like Hunt, Batchelor, Griffith, Morris etc will never be in a good side. So, we have to start again. I thought we actually got our hands on the ball well on Saturday but like other times just turned it over. Pathetically bad kicks and handballs and for example Edwards was atrocious when it was important. Hardly a leader. We need Delidio's purity!  Jack missing that goal.  But, although I have always considered Hampson to be weak he played pretty well this week and even took a few marks. Can't kick yet and needs more defence but he was not the worst. Play the kids like Ellis who will get better. We need some more backline speed but I can't see why Dumma makes them play slowly. Cotchin, Rance, Houli (who works his arse off) were I thought good. Astbury fair but needs time as he has not played much for years. Rioli will be something. Chaplin?  Not for the future but we have drafted bad big men for years. So out? Chaplin but for who? Lennon is worthy keeping in I think as he needs to relearn the pace of this game. We lost 8-12 goals to direct goal kicking stuff ups so we were competitive believe it or not.

All of this is pretty much on the money. We've overachieved the last few years with a mediocre list based of a game style that's becoming obsolete. We're being found out at the moment and seem to be trying to change our game plan on the fly.

People need to look at the 22 on paper who played yesterday and realise that's certainly not a top 4 team and it's very questionable whether it's a top 8 team.

Chaplin
Grigg
Houli
Hampson
B Ellis

I would say all those play next week
The problem is guys like C Ellis , Vlaustin , Rance , Miles playing poorly

Agree with this

Miles & Vlaustin are the 2 that stand out - both horribly out of form

Both making poor decisions which is leading to crap disposal

Rance's "poor" games have still been better than most of the side's....

I don't think he is manic enough to be a defender.
He is a natural forward IMO. Not quick but knows where and more importantly when to lead. It's a shame our game plans gives opposition sides time to get players to fill the holes. Isolation is the most important thing for a forward.

Maric to come in if fit. I'd consider dropping B.Ellis actually and hopefully Hampson and Maric can double team Nic Nat? Unless Hampson is contractually only allowed to play one decent game for us a year?

Except when he cost us the game last week

Really? Moreso than Houli's super-squib non-smother, Hampsud's airswing & run under the ball, Lloyd standing like a statue as Grundy jogged into position, Vickery passing to Lloyd,  Vlastuin's deliberate out of bounds or Hunt just being Hunt?

Yeah maybe I'm being harsh but it was simply pathetic. Stupid decision and awful execution. Vlas was close but I'm giving him benefit of the doubt because of the new interpretation. Just feel the Rance one was inexcusable and hurt us the most at the worst time.
