Club revenue / Replacement Sponsors?
« on: April 24, 2016, 06:22:10 PM »
Hey WP,

How do you think the club is travelling for revenue this year?  It seems that we might be having a bit of trouble, because;
  • Punt Road Oval naming sponsor hasn't been replaced
  • Roar Vision isn't sponsored this year
  • We don't look like making 75k members, if that was the budget target

Do you know if the club has been doing anything to plug the gaps?

Losing the way we are and the resulting slump in crowd numbers will hit the bottom line. It'll be interesting to see how many turn up this week for the Port game. It's not only going to hurt us this year either. The flow on effect will most likely be fewer prime time games next year as well unless there's some dramatic turnaround a la 2014.

I would expect that the club will be taking a hit on all levels this year as a result of the on field

they budgeted for 75k members, they currently have 71k. Way things are going I can't see it going past 72k so that's approx. $600k right there (3k x 200 ave)

The naming rights of Punt Road is the biggie though. That's huge $$$ not replaced. I know they are working on it but they aren't going to get a full year from it so that could be a loss of at least $1mil

Crowds are going to suffer and that's huge $$$ to them

Also, think the FTF will take a hit (another one)

Will be interesting to see what they do

Make more half-arsed, hole-in-the-bucket, bottom line obsessed decisions that will ultimately be detrimental to our list & onfield performance?

In a corporate environment, managers would be tasked to cut uncommited spend across the all cost items.  Would our footy club have much in the way of discretionary spending?  Or would the Board make a decision to wear an operating loss?

Can't see the board accepting a loss. Would think there would be some cuts in areas other than footy spend

So it's something like $600k off memberships, say $500k off naming rights (if something is in the works) and say a 10% drop in season attendances.  That's starting to sound like a $1.5m hole in the budget already.

Those Cardinia gyms better start delivering all that excess revenue mighty quick!

We don't know what they've budgeted for profit wise so it's all a guesstimate on what the impact any revenue hole would be

But I think the approach would be targeting break even now.

I don't think Dimma and company will be lining up for performance bonuses just yet.

Well I'm afraid it's worse than bonuses being off the table. Well, I'm not afraid, I'm hoping poo gets sought out.
