how can someone have deficiencies with their kicking yet be damaging offensively?

At least when the season is shot ,the silver lining is you get to see the youth coming through.

We have been denined this opportunity.

Ability to find football, space, run and carry etc. Plenty of blokes with shoddy foot skills who are damaging offensively (see Dangerfield)

Ins
Hammer , McBean , Rioli , Marcom
Outs
Maric, Vickery , Lambert , Broad
I know Broad made some mistakes last night but it's to be expected with a kid in his second game. He also did some nice things too. Worth seeing a bit more of IMO. It's either him or Batch and I think we have all seen enough of Batch to know what he brings.

Ive got to say BT I'm very surprised you in particular like Broad, looks a tad soft IMHO.
Nar, didn't say I liked him but think he needs more than two games of AFL footy to judge him on. Rance probably would have been flicked too if you went on his first few games.
I just don't want to see Batchelor ever again as I have seen enough to know he is well below AFL standard. Even more so Houli if they persist with him across HB.

The Barometer - Round 16

Herald-Sun
5 July 2016

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK: No fresh injuries from a disastrous loss to Port Adelaide but there are a lot of players out of form. Ty Vickery’s poor run continued and fellow tall forward Ben Griffiths was possibly even worse, failing to take a mark. Kane Lambert couldn’t get into the game, Shane Edwards was a massive disappointment and then there’s Ivan Maric. He’s been a warrior but Ivvy looked miles off the pace, recording just two disposals and dropping several marks.

ON THE CUSP: Shaun Hampson will come straight back if he passes a fitness test and Daniel Rioli played in the VFL after returning from his grandfather’s funeral in Darwin — although he must have still been getting his bearings when he won a centre clearance and kicked the ball 50m the wrong way. Jason Castagna is a likely inclusion after picking up plenty of the ball and kicking three goals in the VFL. Andrew Moore also had plenty of it and Liam McBean kicked two goals as the Tigers fell two points short against Casey.

ON THE BLOCK:
OK, what now? The finals are shot, putting Richmond fans out of their misery a couple of months earlier than usual. Damien Hardwick says he’ll have a look at the kids in the run home which means possible debuts for Oleg Markov and Dan Butler and more chances for Castagna, Nathan Drummond, Ben Lennon and the great white hope McBean. There isn’t much else in the cupboard but at least Jayden Short and Connor Menadue showed there is something to work with on Friday night. It’s going to be a long eight weeks.

If McBean doesn't come into the side then Hardwick should be tarred and feathered.

Have watched him at VFL level and he reads the game well
Problem is huge transition from VFL to AFL
He is already 23 and has no out standing attributes. At 23 he is close to his ceiling thanks but no thanks.

Hmm team for bullies.

FB: Grimes - Astbury - Conca.  Astbury only because there is no one else. Would give Elton REST OF THE YR if he was fit BEFORE WE INEVITABLY DELIST HIM.Grimes will have to play tall good luck with that i suppose.
HB: Deledio - Rance - Castagna.
C:: Menadue - Martin - Grigg. Grigg only because of his run and spread and his experience. Plus he has played some half decent footy.
R:: Hampson - Cotchin - Miles.  How i wish we had a Josh Kennedy or Pat Cripps type to name here.
HF: Lennon - Riewoldt - Rioli
FF: Short - Griffiths - McBean. Beaner can also pinch hit in the ruck. If he is to be any sort of ruckman he may as well start now.If mcBean is not picked i would throw in the deep end where the sharks may bite em in half either C Moore or Chol.

Int: C Ellis  if fit - Drummond - Edwards - Townsend.

7 or 8 changes but we dont lose structure there is plenty of experience around the kids we throw in and the side for want of a better way of saying it  has a good flow to it with most bases covered.

It will probably get belted by games end  but who gives a poo.

Because what they find damaging, we all find offensive?
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

In the Mix: Round 16

Nathan Schmook
AFL.com.au
5 July 2016

RICHMOND

This is the Tigers' most intriguing week at selection this season after conceding they can't play finals.

There is an expectation the match committee will start looking to youth in the final eight rounds and dashing half-back Jason Castagna is at the front of the queue, having earned a chance through his VFL form.

Tall forward Liam McBean is the player the club needs to know if it will go forward with after two games in four seasons, and he should be given a chance.

Daniel Rioli (12 tackles in the VFL) should also return.

Ruckman Shaun Hampson (knee) faces a fitness test this week, as does defender Jake Batchelor (back).

Half-forward Ben Lennon is close after one game in the VFL back from injury, as is midfielder Nathan Drummond, who has played five matches after 12 months sidelined with a knee injury.
