so how many games have you watched in recent years where the coach has made a tactical move from the box that had a big influence on the game?

listen to what recent players reply with when asked what the coach be saying to the players when a team is getting well beaten, or what the coach would doing.

I've heard those that have coached in recent times say as much, everything recent retired players say on TV commentary points to as much, and havn't witnessed too much to say otherwise.

tell us why you think it is wrong and how you gleaned your insight, if observing, listening and learning isnt your thing?

Every single game I watch at ANY level of football. Especially AFL.

Players tow the party line in any official capacity, at every opportunity. "Just play my role" etc

I've heard everything to the contrary.

If coaches had little to no affect during games, why would they sit so many coaches in the box, set them up with so much analysis hardware....

Sorry Pen, you're talking rubbish here.

every single game you have watched you see a master coaching move that influences the game?

And you have the gall to suggest it is I that is talking rubbish?

As for the analysis hardware, it for analysis of the game, mainly afterwards,to determine exactly what is going to plan and what isn't, and if you want to suggest any tactical moves made are due to all these hanger ons and their technology in the box, then that isnt down to one coach and his masterful, adaptable technical nouse anyway.

The game is so structured now, that is why you always hear ex, ( ex playerd dont have to toe any party line :lol ) players always rattle on about it.

when things go to the crapper, there is little the coaches can do but try to get the players to execute what they have been instructed better. That is why, no matter what team,or what coach, when they are getting beaten and the TV cameras pan to the coach, they all have the same helpless look of dispair on their face.

Interesting Gayle doesn't say Hardwick has ALL the attributes necessary.

In fairness, it's only been 7 years so far.

Plenty of time for Damien to get them all.   :clapping

For one thing, he isn't Greek. Not sure extra time will sort that out though....

honestly man, how dumb do people think other clubs are in their due diligence? I dont think theyll be paying more for him bc our coach is publicly talking him up. They'll make a decision based on what they see not what our club is saying

Wouldn't surprise me if Vickery wants to leave and Halfstep's trying to convince him to stay....
