Lloyd on the chopping block after one bad match?

The Barometer - Round 19

Herald-Sun
25 July 2016

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK: Liam McBean struggled up forward and had no impact but the Tigers need to know whether he can play at the level. Sam Lloyd struggled, managing just eight disposals and didn’t score, while Jason Castagna found the going tough. Ben Griffiths had a horror day, running at just 27 per cent efficiency from his 11 disposals and had a nightmare moment into defence when he handballed straight to Jack Gunston in the goal square.

ON THE CUSP: The Tigers will be hoping Brett Deledio can overcome his tight calf to play against the Giants in Sydney, while Bachar Houli made a successful comeback from a wrist injury with 24 disposals in the VFL. Ty Vickery had 12 disposals and kicked two goals, while rookie Adam Marcon could come into sonsideration after another impressive performance, finishing with 21 disposals.

KATE SALEMME’S FORECAST: Coach Damien Hardwick blasted his team post-match for its “shameful” last quarter against the Hawks where it conceded nine goals as the margin blew out. The Tigers wasted opportunities in front of goal, which would have only frustrated Hardwick further. The task doesn’t get any easier this week, having to fly to Sydney to play GWS before returning to play Collingwood at the ‘G. Can the Tigers to regain some confidence and salvage something from the season with games against the Cats, Saints and Swans looming? Ouch.

Don't see how he can pick Lloyd out, at least he didn't gift goals away, I thought Astbury was woeful as well, made Cool Hand Luke McGuane look like a superstar, the whole team was gone after half way through the last 1/4.

Can we keep McBean in and give Chol a run?

they will probably put Vickery back in just to really upset all RFC supporters

In the mix: round 19

RICHMOND

Changes shouldn't be ruled out after what Damien Hardwick labelled a "shameful" fourth quarter against Hawthorn.

The coach has the freedom to play as many youngsters as he likes and he may turn to the VFL again this week, where recycled midfielder Andrew Moore racked up 28 possessions and two goals.

Mature-age rookie Adam Marcon is yet to be given a chance at senior level and should be tested before the end of the season.

Defender Bachar Houli (24 possessions) played 75 per cent game time in the VFL after 11 weeks sidelined with a wrist injury, but he looks ready to return and would give the Tigers the creativity off half-back they were missing against the Hawks.

Jacob Townsend had 28 possessions in the VFL, but the Tigers have been reluctant to bring him back into the 22, playing him once in three months.

No changes.

Back against the wall and see what they are made of!

See who wants to be there.

Problem is playing under Hardwick's Shameful Game Plan makes it hard to see who can play.

Lids out for year
Lennon as well
Lennon might have played his last game as a Tiger if what I heard is true.

Could well be so for both of them from what I've heard.....

Deledio more than open to a trade to a contender, despite what he says publicly...club giving it serious consideration, Lennon just wants out and the events of last weekend were pretty much the final straw...Carlton, St.Kilda & Melbourne have all expressed interest...

As much as Lennon may want out, I've heard it's more than mutual.
Good for both parties.
What is he worth? Something in the late 20's?

Didn't know about the Deledio one... interesting and don't blame him. Lennon doesn't surprise me. Was seriously close to leaving during his last contract negotiation and shocked most people who knew him when he did decide to sign. What was the events last weekend?

Clubs seriously stupid for not at least giving him a good run. Has some very useful skills. If they at least played him I reckon he'd get us something better than 20 but alas we never played him so will be lucky to get anything good

The feeling is more than mutual....Halfstep & him just don't see eye to eye to put it mildly....believes he should've been playing on the MCG on Sunday instead of doing his ankle on the sub par Punt Road surface....be suprised if he got anything less than a second rounder....wasn't regarded as a steal at pick 12 for nothing....clubs are aware of his talent.......we can too but Halfstep rates other things more highly...

Lennon is more likely to be traded than Deledio but there's still a real chance both won't be Richmond players next year.

How is that good for us? Problem is dimwit and only him

Get rid of the prick so we can salvage from these kids.

Why would Martin stay at this rate? Getting belittled by your coach in the presser,  when every other week nothing is said about  his arse licking favourites in grigg hunt and even lids

True, but if he wants out especially if he was close last year, then its probably best for a fresh startfor both parties, still think we'll get something decent for him, has shown enough in cameos that he has a useful skillset. His old man is a mad blues supporter...

What is going on with this club, sounds like disharmony is rife and the club is just falling to pieces. Really need a major shake up at end of season to ensure that 2017 isn't used as merely a half season test for Hardwick and co. because that's essentially wasting a complete season. Then if major change occurs in 2018 you can almost write that season off so really we are looking at 2019 before we are even slightly competitive again, not looking good from the outside, hopefully things inside the club are not as bad as a number of posts seem to suggest.
