Honestly Andy, why not?
12-15 games for the next couple of years at that standard will win us games.
I do not want to become the lolnorf of the competition over the next 2-3 years.
Lolnorf should not be 17th with that list but they have forgotten how to win

It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Do you think we're likely to get 12-15?

I said 15+ but even if you could guarantee me 12 it's good for thought.

At the moment though I really don't see him getting on the park that much. It's game time we need in guys like McAuliffe, Sonsie, Lalor, Smillie etc. We have Taranto and Hopper to be the big bodies we need.

Not as though he is keeping kids out of games atm and it would be a similar scenario next year.
Dion or Ross, Dow McIntosh in the mid field.

Midfield group next year

Taranto, Hopper, Prestia. there's your experience. Still developing Lalor, Smillie, Hotton, McAuliffe, plus two first rounders. The first 7 we hope is our core group next year and the first rounders get games.
Thats just a total of 9 mids we need to get it closer to 14 or so for development and depth in the seconds.

If seven mids is a standard each week and with the bench that is pretty normal for most teams, then the easy way to work out how many  you need is  simply mirroring as best as possible the number in the seconds.
Even if you include the likes of Sonsie Ross and Dow there is still a need for more.

With all that above can see no reason why Prestia could not go around again.

Prestia's goal

VIDEO: https://x.com/Richmond_FC/status/1931196394888700059

----------------------------------------------

Highs and lows for Prestia
Dion Prestia looked like a world-beater in the opening quarter. With 13 disposals, three clearances and a goal to his name, he was the engine room around whom the rest of the Tigers' midfield was working. Prestia was the first port of call for Sydney coach Dean Cox to address at quarter-time. Reliable midfielder James Rowbottom stood alongside Prestia to open the second term, and didn't let him out of his sight, preventing the Tiger from touching the footy, and working Prestia out of the game so well that he didn't even register a tackle for the quarter. Prestia ultimately finished with 21 disposals and six clearances, a far cry from the impact he threatened to have.

Yze didn't stop short in saying that veteran Dion Prestia is more than capable of playing on in 2026 as the club weighs up its major list calls.

Prestia, 32, is out of contract at season's end, and has experienced multiple injury setbacks in the past few years.

However, the former Sun has played in the past seven clashes, and has provided an important stop-gap for the next generation coming through.

"We understand where his head sits and he has an eye to the future around coaching, but those discussions for next season will start with [Richmond list boss] Blair [Hartley]," said Yze.

"His value on the field and off the field right now has been terrific for our young boys. I can't see any reason why he wouldn't be here."

The nucleus of the next flag will be getting invaluable on field coaching by the leaders remaining from the last flag team.

It’s imperative we get another 1-2 years from Prestia, Nank, Lynch, Broad and Flossy.

Already, the next wave of our back 6 is emerging.

Lolnorf’s strategy of getting it from a foreign legion isn’t working because those players don’t understand the culture of the club we have joined or the fabric of the kids they are coaching.

Agree, to let these players go and then realise we need to recruit senior players in as mentors like West  Coast and North had to do  would be the definition of insanity .
It’s great to learn from your mistakes , but a lot less painful to learn from other peoples / clubs mistakes 🙀

One more and agree with the strategy. This is why I wanted Jack for another year.

Hopefully Lynchy hangs around

remember when they dumped boomer, petrie and some other player i forget within the same year or 2.

I think this was the start of their decline.

There is one thing to keep dead wood like dow,, ross types but another to get rid of a senior core to be on field leaders. Lynch is one of those.

FJ, the Norf player you're thinking of is Michael Firrito.

They also dumped Nick Dal Santo at the same time, three years after he crossed over from St Kilda.

This was at the end of 2016.

Yep. We don’t want a list profile of 20 under 21’s and zero over 30’s in a year or two. What’s really exciting is that all the draftees from last year look good. Real good.
So, a senior core who can shepherd them to AFL excellence is key.
Form and fitness permitting, I would selfishly like 2 seasons.
Armstrong, Faull, Lalor, Hotten, Trainor and hopefully Smillie and Sims would benefit greatly from 3 years under our premiership legends.
We are going to need to flesh out our 24-28 yo’s which were decimated from last year’s trades but I have faith we will nail it.
