I think 18 teams is too much - talent spread too thin .

New South Wales deserve only one team Ditto Queensland.

Keep two teams in  WA and SA .

Would love to see a Tasmanian team - they deserve one. How many champions has the apple isle  produced. It shouldnt be all about the money and reaching new audiences.

Keep the Big 4 Melbourne clubs plus Hawthorn and Geelong .

Melbourne , Kangaroos , St kilda , Bulldogs all merge together to create two teams

Mats AFL competition

Richmond tigers
Collingwood magpies
Essendon bombers
Carlton Blues
Adelaide
Port Adelaide
West Coast
Fremantle
Sydney
Geelong
Hawthorn
Hobart hornets
Brisbane
Melbourne kangaroos
Western suburbs Saints .

15 teams . Bring back the bye .

A nine team comp so we can finish 9th and still get the number one draft pick (which we would stuff up anyway.)

Bring in 2 Tassie teams.
20 team comp with 2 divisions.
18 rounds each team plays each other with home and away.
Top 4 each play own finals series.

Bottom 2 in Div 1 relegated for the 2 teams who win the prelims in Div 2.
Go Tigers!

Dilute the talent pool even further and have even more shyte games. Good idea.

No theme rounds or using matches to promote political bullshyte, social causes or some disease of the week - things most people go the footy to forget about.......

Basically AFL should be run by this bloke:

14 teams. No wings. 26 rounds. No NAB, no training until Jan. top 6 play offs

You end up with the equivalent of 12 teams by dropping the wings.

Standard will improve, even draw and players will be fresher and hopefully quit bitching.

Move Roos to GC, Bulldogs to GWS, Saints to Tassie.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

State of Origin Cup; Pre-Season

7 Week Round Robin, WA, SA, NT, QLD, NSW, VIC, TAS,

AFL Premiership Season;

19 Weeks Home & Away. Top 8 teams play finals over 4 weeks as per current system.  20 AFL Teams. Each team plays each other twice. New Clubs from Tasmania & Northern Territory to join the 18 present clubs.

That's 30 weeks of football all up. That leaves 22 weeks of the year free. If someone had a brain in the AFL Headquarters this would be the ideal format & a great chance for a true State of Origin Cup  ;D

Dilute the talent pool even further and have even more shyte games. Good idea.

Games aren't shyte due to lack of talent.  Their shyte due to tactics which leads to error ball and rolling scrums. Watching VFL can be more interesting because the corral isn't perfect and someone can actually find a way through the scrum because it isn't 36 players.
