Always rated Ibbotson, very underrated and can still play - was bog v Footscray in r.23....don't have a problem with getting good players...
No doubt he is a better player than Houli, Grigg and Hunt but we need to aim higher if we are to try and catch the good sides. Lets not draft anymore average players, let's get rid of them and draft kids that could potentially become very good players. I'm  happy to have some misses in the draft in the search for better than the players mentioned above.
There is about 25 players and more if a good percentage of juniors dont come on who we could move on. While i am firmly in the draft kids camp we will have to also take our fair share of mature types.

Over the next 3 yrs say we do turn over 25 -30 players not unrealistic imo then we will need to bring in around 8 or more mature types as well as the 16  or more kids.

I think you underrate Ibbotson he is a better player than Grimes and by some margin imo.
He is a consistent performer at the level and has shown he can stand up in big games of footy. He may not be a superstar but he is no mug either.I think he is a F/A thus would cost us nothing but his contract.

We have so many weak pricks who play of h/b get in a decent performer and get rid of the outright duds.
Our trouble is we bring in iffy players and hardly ever value add there is nothing wrong with value adding as long as you get it right.

A question bt do you think we should only target kids or do you think it is okay to take a percentage of mature players as well if so what percentage.

if we are going after Williams then that must mean Yarran isn't coming back?

The only mature players I would take must be A or B graders at their current clubs OR a ruckman.
No more looking for a diamond in the rough like the Townsend's and Moore's of this world.
Tom Mitchell should be our number 1 target.
I wouldn't care if we missed on Prestia if we get in a quality player like Mitchell.

Like you I think KPP are a must too. We need to load up on them in the draft.
Getting a player like Darling out of the WCE would be a good start. And he is clearly a B+ player.

As for Ibbotson being better than Grimes, I think we will have to agree to massively disagree.

Hindsight on Yarran?
It's called a common sense approach to due diligence  which a few punters on here and the fools running the club couldn't see

Carlton pulled a swifty, they did it to us before.  Why we bother trading with these stuffing con artist scumbags is beyond me.  They wanted to offload the dodgy bastard and we rope a doped.  Just like the Saints got boned by Essendrug.  Pick 5...gee they coulda used that on something good....
