“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

 :lol

Can't get a game for the seniors due to injury, slowness and lack of Spring.

Gets a contract.

Another senior player spot taken by somebody who probably won't play. Along with Yarran.

Only at Richmond  :lol

So do you support his contract extension?

its hard to say as I don't really know the clubs reasoning, but I'm assuming its leadership.

on field he is done, but offfield he can be still helpful

Besides its only one year.

So why does he require being on the senior list to and taking up a spot to do that? Why not just put him on the VFL list and give him a coaching role instead?

No surprise you couldn't wait to jump on here and attempt to justify it.

you make a good point, assuming its in case we don't land another ruckman/hampson gets injured... theres really no other reason for doing it.

No suprise you couldn't wait to come on here and jump on me :)

Have no issue with it myself

It is about leadership and not just leadership on the field. Has a lot to do with what he does off the field.

IMESHO he is still one of our best if not best leader.

And yep perhaps that says alot about the club

As I asked ND - why does that require him still being on the senior list? Why not VFL list with a coaching role? And if that was our initial offer, then surely we didn't give in to his demands to remain on the AFL list just keep him as an "onfield coach"?
