In a wideranging discussion, the former AFL star claims Tigers coach Damian Hardwick went into hiding when King was cut from the side in early 2014.

“After round one, I ended up getting dropped by Dima,” King said.

“He did it over the phone. He didn’t do it in person. I did what most people did and asked to meet Dima to have a chat.”

King claims when he arrived at the club, Hardwick wasn’t there.

King phoned the coach, and claims Hardwick told him: “I’m not an idiot. I’m not gonna let you punch the f--- out of me because I dropped you.’”

King sighed: “I spent the next eight weeks in the reserves because I’d told (Hardwick) exactly what I thought of him. It wasn’t much fun.”

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

Have to wonder if this is true given that it's coming out of Kingy's mouth. I'm sitting on the fence TBH.

I love the Push Up but I have to wonder also, two coaches both had a run in with the one player.

Allow me to rephrase.

Why is king regards as untrustworthy ?

Well after watching his Open Mike episode, his attempted law suit against the AFL for his toe injury, being refused entry to the MCG because his female company wouldn't let security search her bags, and generally hearing comments like this from time to time, it makes me wonder if unsubstantiated claims such as this one have any merit when in fact it could be plain slander. The general feeling I get is that he's struggling to return to normal life post-AFL career and is trying to keep himself as relevant as possible and often as possible.

As I said, I'm sitting on the fence. I think Hardwick sucks as a coach, picks favorites, and is probably very narrow-minded in his opinions of players (think of Shane Tuck's treatment as a polar opposite to his fave's for example), however so far the impression I've gotten of him is that he wouldn't avoid a conversation like this. Rather he would have the conversation whether or not his motives are appropriate or worthwhile.

People with suspect friends are sometimes more people of their word than the general society.

No doubt kings female company was a libertarian that values western freedoms such as being allowed to watch a game without te Gestapo harassing her. That or she had a few pills. Either way is king his friends keeper?

Wouldn't surprise me if Dimma was too soft to face king.

Keep in mind I'm making no reference to his biker connections.

More than anything else I get the impression he makes statements purely for attention and relevance.

As I said - I'm sitting on the fence here.

EDIT: Oh and FWIW, King is genuinely in my top 5-10 favorite players (on field) of the last generation, along with blokes like Tuck, Jackson, Richo etc. We miss his hardness terribly. Bloke is about 5'9 and makes our current list look like wet noodles it's sickening really.
