Seems a deal has been made with the Malvern group where they'll replace Free and another soon to be announced resignation as reported by Caro
Maybe this is the opportunity that I was told for Hayden Morris to be given a seat on the board. I know he knows Benny Gale very well as I have been to functions where I have met up with them both having a chat.

Was he part of the Malvern group?

Does anyone have half an idea on anything?

It's not Hayden Morris for this vacancy.

The Club’s Nominations Committee will interview potential candidates and, based on skill requirements, make a recommendation to the Board to fill the casual vacancy in the New Year.

People wanting more information can contact company secretary Michael Stahl on mstahl@richmondfc.com.au. The full Nominations Committee Charter can be found on the Club’s website under the ‘Club’ menu item.

These two lines in the release from the club show a seeming subtle change in style from the board.
Seems to say that anyone interested in the Free vacancy can contact Stahl to put their name up.
I assume the next sentence about the Nominations Committee warns people about what is needed and what the process is.

A good chance to move (slightly) to a better, more open process of filling casual vacancies.
Still secretive compared to open elections but it at least moves away from a "groupthink" of people in particular social/employment circles.
Or maybe they've just run out of mates to fill the positions.   ;D

Also a big, big chance to change four board members - 2 elections, 2 casual vacancies -in the next couple of months.

Got to laugh at the name of the topic
" freezer steps down "
He never stepped up in the first place
A lightweight with no ability at board level
Made a goose of himself when he coached Prahran back in the ammos in late 90,s
Being banned from coaching on the ground on several occasions
10-12 years he is on the board at RFC
Enough said

Sorry but what does his record as a coach have to do with his ability as a director  :huh

Great example of comparing a lemon with a coconut

Silly comparison

Wonder if it was really ever Freezer on this forum...
DIMMA - You will be held ACCOUNTABLE...

I must confess to overlooking an important factor in the Free resignation.
Tony Free was one of the three APPOINTED directors on the board.
As some may be aware, the club has never announced who are the APPOINTED directors.
As I've posted before, I worked out the APPOINTED directors were: O'Neal (2013 and thus up this year), Free (2014) and Dalton (2015).

Now the constitution directly states:
8.1.9    At all times after the 2015 Annual General Meeting, the Board shall consist of six Elected Directors
and three Appointed Directors, but may also include the Executive Director.

The resignation of Free, if activated before nominations were called for, could have resulted in Dunne being granted his spot rather than the retiring Matthies.
Dunne could have taken the Free spot either before or, as is going to happen, after the AGM.
This would have resulted in two spots (Ryan's and a vacant spot from Matthies) being up for election.
Two directors could have been designated APPOINTED directors (O'Neal and Dunne), both announced at the AGM.

I don't know why the board has allowed this messy situation to occur, but it is clear that the unnecessary secrecy around APPOINTED directors has played a part.
