What would Luke Hodge or Jordan lewis have done? They would have crunched smith face on and set the tone for the match. Hell even Birchall wouldve made Smith earn it. Make a big contest there, smaller guy going hard against the opposition ruckman and you get the rest of the boys up and about. Do it consistently and that is how culture is developed.

What odds that incident wouldnt have even been highlighted post game by the coaches in their one on one debriefs with the players? I say that with confidence bc this type of incident happened every week.

Nankervis would have stayed with him and made him earn it. At least B Ellis zoned off his man to contest Hammers opponent  (as weak as the contest was). Hammer wasn't anywhere to be seen (again)
Open the other eye Dooks - that's Hamma in the foreground just trailing Dylan Grimes (who didn't get to the contest either, neither did Rance or Astbury, in fact our whole back line can line up for a whack here).

Rance Astbury and Grimes had their own man to worry about. Hampson was responsible for Smith and didnt get near him. FACT.

I'd like to know who you think Ellis zoned off from? It seems to me that Ellis was the lose man in that contest and should have got a fist in or at least made him earn it like already said.
I have said this before, Bellis does more harm than good for us and needs to be reprogrammed to be more brave with and without the footy or FO. There is no doubt he has talent but the way he plays he is a liability. He was putrid this year and I find it puzzling how he escaped getting dropped.

I recon the second clip says more about BEllis than anyone else. Can you get anymore scared as an AFL footballer??

Not sure it says more about him than Hampson who refused to set up defensively but I agree that does make Ellis look soft.

The last gif is an indictment on our midfield as well as Hampson. Cotchin and Martin are easily pushed back behind their Geelong opponents. Hampson should have hit it hard beyond those players in front of him. Should have hit it to Grigg. Shocking all round.

Can I play too  ;D

Any chance you can bring up the last 20 odd seconds of rd 2 this season, where is great tap work resulted in the Grundie goal and cost us the game

Ask and you shall receive (albeit slowly)

FWIW I watched that last quarter and two things stuck out
1. It's a great example of the contrast between their expectations leading into the season and the reality of their season - all in a neat 20 minute quarter
2. Lambert has played more than 1 good quarter :clapping. If we won people would have remembered it IMO

Lets hear the theories how it was our 'defensive setup's' fault

LMAO

I wouldn't mind some theories on what Hampson was actually doing, to me it looks like he was trailing the contest and then leaves his man to put up a half hearted wave at the ball.

Let's hear that from SEN and then hear how "I told you so, even the experts are saying it"
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

I'm assuming everyone criticising hampson have played AFL before

Yeah well said and you can add if they also earnt a 2 year extension.  Unfortunately alot of us here didnt play AFL and next time we have a chance in our next life, we will make sure we sign on for a side coached by Hardwick, because form like that on display not only gets you an AFL career it extends it by 2 years too.  :banghead
FWIW i am convinced the only reason we have this bloke on the list is because of his missus and the exposure she might give us in different circles..outisde that it defies logic how they continue to push to make it seem that this guy is remotely of the standard required.   If the powers that be actually deem this guy a piece of any puzzle then once again we are in the hands of mad men who really dont have a clue.

I once ordered a burger at a large foodchain which came out with a fingernail in it. I didnt criticise and ate it happily because i had never worked in fast food before.

.
and this is why there are issues with this guy, He was just trailing. Didnt make the marking contest, didnt get to his man, just trailed into nothingness and watched how the game was lost. JR even got to the contest in an effort to do something in the last seconds to save the game. Hammer on the other hand might as well sat in the stands and watched it unfold as he TRAILED AWAY
