Hearing Tylar Young is impressing and is a sponge. Will be ready when called upon and is viewed as a long term key back.

That’s good to hear. In my view there are 3 main proponents to a defenders game in the AFL theses days:

1. Shutting down the opposition forward.
2. Intercepting the opposition entry into D50.
3. Providing run and carry from the backline.

What would you say is the order of the 3 above that Tyler has in his arsenal from best to worst i.e. is he more of a shut down defender, lose intercepting marking defender or back flanker?

Great report mate how did you see the players on trial for that final list spot ?.
We didn't notice Luke Teal out there. So not sure if he is still on our trial list. So, the choice looks like it's down to either Bradtke or Narkle (or perhaps neither).

Hard to judge without match simulation. With circle work, you do notice Narkle's clean skills but IIRC the knock on him at Geelong was the defensive side of his game. Those of us watching really only see him being picked up as a crumbing forward as far as a possible need as he will have the same issue struggling to get into our midfield after the arrival of Taranto and Hopper. He's already fitted in as one of the bros though as he did extra jogging/running after main training with Dan and Maurice Rioli.

Bradtke, on the other hand, is obviously a clear need in the key forward role he plays but without seeing him in actual gameplay matched up against a Tarrant or a Balta, it's impossible to judge him at this stage. Hopefully, in the next few weeks we'll move into more match simulation stuff which is more fun to watch too.
AFL website says Teal is no longer training with us.

Richmond

Quinton Narkle is one of the biggest names hoping for a second chance at AFL level after being delisted by Geelong following 41 games across six seasons. The West Australian trained with the Tigers in December and has made a strong impression to start the new year after losing eight kilograms and finishing third in the second heat of the 2km time trial last week, recording a time under seven minutes.

The Tigers are also looking at country football star Kaelan Bradtke, who started with the club on December 5. The 21-year-old kicked 39 goals in the Ovens and Murray League last year and also made two appearances in the VFL for Sydney's reserves.

Richmond also looked at Oakleigh Chargers product Luke Teal before Christmas.

Richmond training updates

Jack Graham, Tom Lynch and Jayden Short completed agility and running training today.

Nick Vlastuin and Marlion Pickett completed a running session while others completed game simulation.

Dustin Martin and Shai Bolton played mostly forward in game simulation. Martin did progress up into the midfield during general play and was used quite often in ball transition back into the forward line.

Trent Cotchin, Jacob Hopper and Tim Taranto were the main options used at centre bounces. Dion Prestia did not participate in game simulation.

Daniel Rioli played across half-back in game simulation.

Also from today:

- Jack G, Shorty and Tom Lynch did laps only
- Flossy sat it out
- No sign of Ivan Soldo??
- Biggy Nyuon was having a real crack. Add some upper body bulk and he would be a contender for a spot in the backline

What I did see of him [Hopper], which was limited, he was in and under after the ball in a pack.

Inside intel: Big hint on Dusty’s role, midfield mix

Richmond’s biggest name is in supreme physical condition but he may be deployed differently this year. Plus, the train-ons impressing and injured stars.

That’s a bit more players sitting out of training or on light duties that I’d like to see only a couple months out from round 1.
